Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

Any Velocity owners planning on going to the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout? Ii is the weekend before Labor Day in August. Great time was had by several owners last year. There is a "fun run" on Friday and the races are Saturday and Sunday.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

I don't have mufflers and the drive would take 16 hours depending on if we don't stop at Lake Cumberland.:D

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

Mufflers are not necessary. Last years top speed in the Shootout was 203mph. Check out their site at: www.lakeshootout.com. I know that it is a long trip for many. I think that the guys that came last year would say that it was well worth it.

We are making plans now to return to LOTO as we had a wonderful time there last year. I know that Nauti-Streak is coming as well. We are coming from NC. Same group as last year I assume. Look forward to meeting you guys at Shooters at the docks. We hope to stay a Tan-a-Tar again unless we find something better.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

Steet, I am sure that Tan-Tar-A will have much the same deal as last year. I will be checking next week and I will let everyone know. Also, I forgot to mention, for those that were not at the Shootout, of the four classes that Velocities were entered, three won first place in class. Not Bad!!!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

Tan-Tar-A Resort is the hotel for the Shootout. Their website is www.tan-tar-a.com. Check out the site. Great place. For the Shootout, $75/night for rooms, $135/night for a suite. Let me know if anyone needs more info.

We have already made lodging reservations for that week at LOTO. We're coming from Salt Lake so it should be a drive. We're looking forward to going there for the first time.

We are thinking of having some activities earlier in the week for Velocity owners. Don't know what yet. Probably some tours of the lake, shopping (great shops big outlet mall, just ask my wife) golf maybe. Any suggestions? If you are planning on being there, please send me a message. I don't know everyone's forum name . This is Mike from Velocity

Sonny, I am sure that you could win your class with the new 36 and the Ilmors. If you would like, I will include you in our group and make reservations for you with a covered slip. Well actually Melody is making the arrangements. I think that Jack Miller Marine will be involved again and we will represent them again as they put on you heck of a show last year. Talk to you soon.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

Guys,
We are planning go get rooms on the lake side in the main lodge. If it is ok, when I talk with Tan-Tar-a I will give them a list of names so they can begin to put all of us in the same area. Also, we will have dock space at Shooters 21 like last year. I hope we can fill one whole dock with Velocities.

Sonny, Since we have talked, I went online and got the dates. We are leaving on Wednesday Aug. 23rd and heading that way. I am not sure if we will drive straight through or not. I know we will be there early on Thursday morning and we will be boating after lunch on the lake. We will stay until Monday morning most likely and leave for home. That could change and we leave late on Sunday evening and be home on Monday night. I will know when the event gets closer.

Mike, We wish for the same thing. I hope we have a good velocity turnout again this year. The dock space last year was very impressive. Thanks for all your hard work on this

What about the noise restrictions and any muffler requirements? It sems to be mentioned inthe Shootout Rules and the FUN RUN rules.

theboatguy 03-10-2006 09:12 PM

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

Sonny,

I am sure that the restrictions are lifted fror the Shootout. I know that most of our boats did not have mufflers last year. I an NOT sure about dry exhaust for the fun run. I will contact the Missouri Water Patrol and find out what the rules are for sure. Does anyone out there know for sure???

Mike

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

I talked with the Missouri Water Patrol this morning regarding open dry exhaust systems.. I asked how the rules apply for the Shootout. He told me that you have a 24 hour window prior to the race for tuning and testing. Boats with dry exhaust CANNOT run the lake. The exemption to the rules applies only for setting up for the race. I do not believe that a boat with a water muffeled exhaust would have a problem. If anyone has a question, I will be glad to check it out.

I have to agree on the 39 full canopy but with 1800 KE twin turbos. However it will not be me this year. (next year maybe) I ran watered exhaust on the 625 Ilmors last year and had the water patrol beside me several times and they had no issues with my exhaust. I believe you will be ok as long as it is not dry pipes.
Looking forward to LOTO again this year.

It's going to be dry, but I am working on getting some mufflers. Hope they don't throw me out.

I was going to try and get a slip at the Tan-Tar-A marina. They were non committal where my rooms will be. If you have any pull, let me know.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

I hope that you got my email earlier today. I have not heard back from the resort. I will follow-up tomorrow. Mayby you could twist the arms of other owners in the northeast and midwest and have a Velocity convoy to the Shootout. We already have one from the south east. You yankees can't let the "good ole boys" show you up

Re: Lake of the Ozarks Shootout & Poker Run

We have 2 Velocity's coming from NC, so far.

4 boats total.

Hopefully we can talk a couple more into making the trip

theboatguy,

I will try and pull together some Yankee Velocity owners. The problem is, there are not enough of us up here. I e-mailed my confirmation numbers and slip needs the other day, but I am not sure that it made it through your Spam Screening.

I have heard that there may be eight turbine boats at the Shootout this year. Any one out there know for sure?

I have not heard anything yet, but I would not doubt it. I know there will be some serious power there though.

Sounds like several of you know your way around the LOTO area. Looking for some advice on where to put in, We are staying
at Tan Tera but cant get a straight answer on the boat launch. Is it good for a 38' or do I have to launch elsewere. Is there good parking for trailors?

We actually do put in at the Resort. The ramp is ok for our 41' boat, so you should be ok. Parking is ok
