Default Fuel sending unit on a 280

Does any one have the problem of innaccurate fuel guage readings on their 280? Mine (03')seems to be fairly accurate when it is sitting on the trailer, but when the boat is in the water it still reads full when I know I've burned through at least 40 gal. I pulled the sending unit out and moved the arm by hand and it registers fine on the guage. Kenny at the factory told me that they go with a different style now that works better. Has any one else been down this road and does the new style work better than the arm style? Or is there something else that can be done to the arm style to make it register more accuratly?

One of these should do the trick.

If I remember right mine was 10.5" deep, but that's off of memory. I would take a few seconds and double check it.

Kenny is going to hook me up with the new style one they are using at the factory (forgot what he called it). He said the float style have never been accurate due to the way the boat sits in the water.
