New windshield for 26'
1 Attachment(s)
Has anyone had to replace their windshield ? What about 1/4 canopies ? I talked to Velocity, but the company they referred me to hasn't returned my calls.

Re: New windshield for 26'
I've heard the replacement windshield is 2k. However, i haven't really researched it myself. I've never seen 1/4 canopies on one?

2k...WOW That's an expensive piece of plastic, I called a local plexiglass shop the see if they could use the old one for a pattern and fabricate a new one, I'll post their response when I hear back from them.........Thanks

Re: New windshield for 26'
I just replaced the gasket a few weeks ago and put a 2" crack in mine. It hasn't grown so I think I'm ok.
Mine has the lip on te top edge. There is alot of compound curves and angles. I don't think a local shop can dup this one. |
Re: New windshield for 26'
Vicious...if you drill a very small hole1/8" or less at the end of the crack it should stop it from growing

Re: New windshield for 26'
I broke one pane in my windshield on my old boat (22' powerquest spectre/the front curved section). I ended up having a local company make me a whole new windshield that fit in the original frame out of lexon. It was expensive because they had to make the template for it. It turned out great but set me back about 1600.00.

I can't stand it....talking to you MI guys just reminds me that I haven't seen the big lakes this summer.
You don't know how good you got it. |
Re: New windshield for 26'
We can make almost any windshield if we have the old one to tool off of. In the past we've made a couple of Velocity's but they were different than the pic.
The problem is that windshields are big and expensive to freight but if you're in South Florida you got it made. |

Acrilyco,
out of curiousity what would be the price range to make a plastic lip like a lot of the sonics have? |
Re: New windshield for 26'
I'd say in the $650.00 range. We actually do the Sonic in clear and white. When you're talking 1/2" remember that in clear you'll get quite a bit of lensing (the curve thickness will vary upon forming making a lensing effect) so the optics are going to be so-so.
