I'm in for the great lakes, cleavland is great. I think we'd loose the southern guys.

for 07 I'm planning on doing Velocity outing at lake norman, Vfest mid atlantic, Thunder on the bay. after that I'll be broke.

If we combine the velocity runs we should look at Norfolk.
I don't know the south bay at all.

I would be up for anything within 6 hours of Md. Any further than that, and it would probably be unrealistic for me. This winter I'll be either upgrading my gerbil wheel or replacing it all together. Either way, I'll be looking forward to being a bit quicker Damn reversion got me!!

How about Put-In -Bay on Lake Erie in OH? This is my backyard and would be glad to help coordinate. Lots of Velocity owners in Mich and a few in IN, IL

If you want to party this is the place!
Home of the worlds longest bar. Keywest of the north.

Its about a 20 mile run from Sandusky which is probably the best place to launch from. There are alot of other good runs in western Lake Erie from there .

It would be great to have something on the Great Lakes. I would definitely participate. Have been to Put-in-Bay once and would LOVE to get back there.

OK Lets get serious, how many of you want to have a combined event in any of the spots mentioned even though it might be more that 6 hours away from home.I agree that if we want to have these people come to our local waters maybe we need to set an example that we are willing to go to other areas to put on an event in other areas.I for one as well as several others are willing to travel to other states to try and get as many of us together as possible and I know that Steve Teeter and his group are willing to do so as well ,and I know that Steve Stepp will also travel to put on an event.I would love to see as many Velocitys together at one time as humanly possible and there are alot of us out there so what do you think, lets do it.When ever and or where ever, lets try to pull this off.

For all of you who may not have received this email. Here you go.

The momentum from last summer’s Velocity Fest continues on with lots of discussion for next year!

I’m writing exclusively to past Velocity Fest attendees as your ideas for 2007 deserve the most consideration. Furthermore, as a group we’ll decide what we want to do for our region. I used the word “region” on purpose as I see Velocity Fest as being a “local” Velocity Event (that ANY Velocity owner can attend of course) for our extended area. Please read on and I’ll further explain my “regional position”. You may have seen the many OSO posts for “Velocity Fest 2007” suggesting locations ranging from Canada to Florida to Michigan. These are all great suggestions and no doubt can be successful but the key to success is really two fold. First - is there a local demand for a new Velocity event and a sufficient number of “connected” Velocity owners that are willing to participate? Remember some percentage of owners just don’t like organized events and won’t join in. Second - as Brian Surguy posted, we need a “local” person to select the course and arrange the logistics. The logistics consumed two full days of Brian’s time last March before we could even start deciding on arrangements! Speaking from my experience last spring in Florida, it’s very time consuming (and expensive travel-wise) to try to do this from hundreds of miles away just to find out that there just aren’t enough folks interested for a variety of reasons. Often times areas have an event that local Velocity owners have already embraced such as the Jacksonville Fire Dept. for North/Central Florida, the Richmond Club event in Virginia, the North Carolina Lake Norman event and the PRA Sarasota Runs for west Florida. While I’m very willing to share my recipe for organizing a Velocity event - I’ve learned that you need a couple of people like Brian Surguy who are willing to invest the time to make it work successfully for any given location. In summary, I’m always happy to be the “general contractor” for any Velocity Fest in our regional area and very willing to help another area’s “general contractor” as best I can.

What about the Lake Norman (near Charlotte, North Carolina) event and possibly combining it with Velocity Fest as has been suggested? First let me say that the North Carolina event is a real crowd pleaser for all involved and that several of us planned on going there this year (until the dates overlapped) and do plan on attending in 2007. Velocity Fest and the Carolina Powerboat Club’s Lake Norman events are fundamentally different. The Carolina Power Club includes all brands of boat owners and will always be held in Carolina for its local club members. Besides being a well established annual, one-day event - it’s been growing like crazy the last couple of years so why mess with a good thing? As you know Velocity Fest is a 2-day overnight cruise for Velocities only. That being said, I think it’s better to continue to have two different events - different choices are always good! Remember also, that there’s about 400 miles towing distance between Charlotte and Baltimore! We’ll make sure that conflicting dates won’t happen again in 2007 to enable folks to go to both.

So unless there’s no interest in holding a “regional” Velocity Fest in 2007, we’ll continue to move ahead with it. Once again, I’ll certainly help anyone else willing to take the lead in organizing a “Velocity event” outside of our area provided that there’s sufficient owner interest.

I believe that surveys are a good way to get input and very importantly, share the results with everyone in a clear manner. Please note that by design, after three consecutive years, we are moving off of the Chesapeake to a different location in 2007. So keep that in mind and let’s try to keep other suggested locations within roughly a three-hour tow of North East, MD.

So here’s the 2007 Velocity Fest Planning Survey. Absolutely call me or write me directly if you like as well. The survey will be available on-line for one week from now so you’ll need to get your vote in to be counted. I’ll share the results with you next week.

Guys, I hope we can have a velocity only fun run somewhere in between. Our event has grown to the point we can not do the run as we did this year. We are expecting in excess of 100 boats this year for the LKN fun run as we have multiple boat manufacturers backing. I would like to have a Velocity only Fun Run on the Lake as well. This year was by far the best I have ever been assoicated with. With Velocity as our primary sponsor and a Grand Tour of Dale Earnhardt Inc. the Velocity Group could have not been better complimented. We hope to include as many Velocity Owners next year as possible and hopefully extend some of the same benefits as this past year. We have many connections with Nascar and could provide many tours, etc for our companions. We are already in the planning stages with our connections for the upcoming year. I will be in touch with Rick in the coming months as to what we have accomplished. Thanks, Steve
