We had this discussion before you purchased the boat Bill. I agree with you that there is no excuse for this. Any and all holes / penetrations in a boat should be sealed with resin and well caulked to prevent water infiltration. Only makes sense, they go in the water. Steve builds a stought hull, he needs to pay more attention to the details. Having been around his boats for many years and seeing many things like this that are just plain sloppy and a lack of quality control, is what soured me on his product. I thought you told me you had already fixed the soggy transom. A lot of work for the sake of a few bucks saved on proper sealing of a few holes.

I have removed the engines and drives and all of anything and everything to re do the transom completly from the top to the bottom so that it is one solid piece instesd of a patch near the exhaust pipe holes,I am also making some other major changes with the boat.

Bye the way Bill i hope the major changes have nothing to do with the graffics. I love the way YOUR boat looks.

You are fortunate that you have the ability, and the facility, to do this work yourself, it's not an inexpensive fix. Good luck, let me know what you find when you get the transom cut open. And what are you planing on changing ?

On the gas deal, don't feel alone Bill, I ran out the first season with the boat as well. Found out that the only reading on the gauge that is accurate is "E". Anything else is up for interpertation. The Fountain is the same way, if you used half a tank getting there...... you're not going to get back home on the other half.

Wow what a thread. TF that is some funny stuff I don't Billy is ever gonna live that down.

I've gotten couple calls asking why I haven't posted yet, well...

Just like just about every V owner I love my boat and the brand. Every builder has there problems.

Caulk and finish the holes, Better fit and finish, Update the dash, keep the 280 (at least until I order a new one).

Velocity tends to go with the less used brands...pick the main stream power and drive options.

Finally, the factory should build a 41 with big sterlings or 1075 merc and 6 drives. Test it and publish the result so the world can see how they stack up with the other builders.

I've only ever owned Velocity's, so I don't know any other perspective but it sure seems like "other brand" owners hate the product.
