Velocity Fest 2007 - Official

Here's some more preliminary information. I'm still working out all the various costs for this year but I expect the per boat cost to be a little higher then last year since NJ is more expensive then MD.

Velocity Fest 2007

Date: July 28 - 29, 2007

Locations: Forked River, NJ to Trump Marina Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. We’ll start at South Winds Harbour Marina in Forked River. See www.southwindsharbourmarina.com. The marina has a launch ramp, trailer parking, transient docking, fuel and a marine store. For the crew, South Winds offers a great restaurant and a poolside bar with evening entertainment. Trump Marina Casino is a fantastic over night destination featuring a first class marina, dockside dining and entertainment, full resort amenities plus the exciting casino atmosphere. See www.trumpmarina.com.

Length: 90 miles round trip via ocean or inter-coastal route (your choice)

Invitees: Restricted to VELOCITY Powerboat owners and crew.

Registration: All boats and crew must be registered 1 week in advance.

Venue: $xxx per boat includes launch and rig parking, Friday night reception for two, a full buffet breakfast for two on Saturday, two Velocity Zone T-Shirts for early registrants and a chance to win $200 worth of chips (or cash). Additional crew tickets can be purchased at $xx per ticket. Hotel (if desired) and docking fees will be extra.

Safety: Poker Run 10 Commandments will be in effect and safety procedures will be covered at the mandatory Captains Meeting Saturday morning.

Comprehensive information, including the registration form, will be available in early May for download from www.velocityboats.com.

Revelocity 03-14-2007 08:55 AM

I should have an affordable Atlantic City hotel option for us contracted later this week. I'll also post a couple of other AC hotels for your consideration as well as some suggestions for those arriving Friday in the Forked River area. Please book hotels ASAP (and cancel later if needed) as this is a peak summer weekend and is already selling out! I'll take care of reserving the docking at Trumps (and at Forked River if desired).

Safe Parking for 2 nights not a problem but I'd suggest locking or removing your props Friday night since every summer some poor NJ marina gets hit by low-lifes. We'll probably need to de-couple trailer and truck to fit every one since the boat yard is pretty full. There's lots of adjacent vehicle parking at the restaurant.

While I have a call into Clay ..... I'll be in Orlando on business in two weeks and get an answer first hand.

I'll coordinate all the Friday and Saturday night slip requests. Friday night slips are limited to about 6 as the marina will be full up. Our actual starting point Saturday morning will be 1/4 mile up river from Southwinds at a restaurant with enough docking for everyone.

We usually start the Captains Meeting around 9:00 AM so arriving 8:00 at Southwinds to launch will be fine. As I said before. the I-95 and Garden State Parkway will be busy Saturday morning so you'll want to allow a couple of hours extra just in case for traffic. Coming from the south on I-295 or the NJTP it's generally not a problem.

Sick Stinger 03-16-2007 10:32 AM

Thanks RE thats what i will do.

1HYPER1 03-16-2007 11:47 AM

Does Southwinds have floating docks.I hope.

BODYSHOT1 03-16-2007 12:31 PM

Bill - I just realized, that I leave for family vacation that Saturday, so I won't be around anyway  ...if it's together Vinny and Mark could take her down to AC...

1HYPER1 03-17-2007 10:45 PM

Marty we are going to make Mark run his 22 all the way just to prove that size doesnt matter but if your boat is not together and Vinney wants to go he can go with me,I would love to have his company,DAMN I might even let him throttle.

Nope - Forked River docking is two pilings at the front, finger pier on one side with bulk head at the back. The launch has floating docks on each side.

The marina in AC is 100% floating.

Bill,

Feel free to check into it if you like. I expect we'll need about 3 dozen shirts for this year.

HOTEL ROOM INFO FOR JULY 27 and 28

Friday Night July 27th. Forked River, NJ

If you have a vehicle on Friday, I’d recommend the Holiday Inn in Manahawkin which is about 11 miles south and only 1 year old. The rate is $206 over the internet. See http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/...psearchresults

If you don’t have a vehicle or want to stay within about 2 miles – I’ve booked a limited number of rooms at a local “motor lodge” motel which old and somewhat rustic but within 5 minutes ride and $120. Let me know if you’re interested in this option as I’ve booked a small room block.

If you want to stay on your boat at South Winds, I can arrange a transient slip for you.

Saturday Night July 28th. Atlantic City, NJ

The best internet casino room rate I could find was at Harrah’s which is next door to Trumps Marina and is priced at $329 plus taxes and other fees. If you want to stay at a Casino, this would be the most reasonable and convenient to the Marina. Trumps Casino is not accepting advance room reservations and most likely will be in the $400+ range when they eventually reserve. http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/harra...rty-home.shtml

About a 5 minute cab ride away is the FantaSea Flagship Resort which is a 32 story tower property located right on the inlet and a better value at ~ $289 for a junior suite. This property was recommended by two fellow Velocity owners. Unfortunately they will not be accepting reservation until around May 1 as this has become a time share facility that rents available units. Reservations are first come first serve as they don’t do group reservations. http://www.fantasearesorts.com/flagship.php

About a 15 minute cab ride away is the Comfort Inn. This is just outside of the city limits and is $179 night. I’m hoping to set up a room block for about $25 less – hopefully this can be done in about week provided their contract is OK. It looks to be a newer property and has a nice view of the Atlantic City Skyline. I think that this hotel will be the best choice for most people. http://www.choicehotels.com/ires/en-...M.alNp0grJFi.8

About a 20 minute cab ride away is the Hampton Inn. This is a newer property also just outside of the City Limits and is $169 night. It’s located on the bay and offers shuttle service for $14 round trip to the casinos. This is closer to downtown AC then the Comfort Inn. I’ve now set up a “Velocity Powerboats” room block through June 25th. http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/h...tyhocn=ACYWEHX

Lastly, since you’re paying for the slip anyway, Trumps is a very comfortable marina to sleep on your boat. It is cooler along the NJ shore then on the Chesapeake! This is my choice!

You need to book ASAP (and cancel if necessary) as everything is already starting to sell out!

Sick Stinger 03-18-2007 11:38 AM

Just wondering whats the slip fee for the over nigt. And you said that you are going to book all the slips am i correct? Im staying on my boat my self. Anyway thats if i make itback from the casino haha thanks again

Sick Stinger 03-18-2007 11:39 AM

Oh, Also will there be extra T-Shirts that can be purchased. Id like to bring a couple back for a few people at home

DKerns 03-18-2007 12:10 PM

R Add. You may know me, but too sure. My brother has the single engine 32 Velocity and my cousin has the 41 Thouroughbred with big block Ford motors. I have not had my boat out yet. Picked it up late fall for a winter project.

But to answer your question yes we all boat on the upper Chesapeake, mostly out of Butch's (Anchor marine).

1HYPER1 03-18-2007 01:01 PM

No floating docks:( bummerOh well we will make do.
Yes Brian I just got your message.I will call you on Monday.
