In the early 90's I looked at a 1981 30 with triple 2.4 EFI offshores at Gulfwind Marine, the boat was a former raceboat with no interior and ran 81 with 26" pitch choppers. Im sure with today's props she would run in the mid 80's.
Also looked at a 30 in the Ft Lauterdale area that had 2 stock 3.6L V8's that ran 85.
Hope this helps.

Friend had a 33 Powerplay with 3 260s and went almost 82? I had a 93 26 Thoroughbred with twin 300hp V8s and was supposedly went 90.
Guy here in PA with a 26 T Bred with twin Evolution V8s went 102 with the right props and conditions. This hull is totally different then the old 30s though. If you want one, you have to be patient and wait, they are out there, they pop up on boattrader once in a while.
If Tripps would ever get rid of his, that would be a good start. I think he will be buried in it!!!!

Hey Tripps, long time no talk! He sold the motors years ago to Links Outboard in DE, and then gave the boat to someone that did some work on his "compound" a year or so ago. Sharkey sold it last year, I believe. When I saw it for sale, I emailed Sharkey and gave him some history on the boat. The guy that was selling it, made a decent profit if I remember correctly! So how goes things with the Velocity? I just bought a 32' Scorpion from LI in December...........Lost my Thoroughbred in the divorce a few years ago
! Tried to find another Velocity, but the old ones are getting scarce! Loved the Scorpion I used to race, so had to pick this one up when I found it!
Talk to ya!

Bought it from Joe @ Crows Nest Marina. Apparently, he got it from back storage charges? It has been out of the water for 4+ years. It needs an interior and the drives are all corroded, the motors need some little things (carbs rebuilt, new alternators, new oil coolers) but I put some new ignitions in them and they fired right up and sound pretty good. They are 420s that were redone, fully roller with Gil dry exhaust. I have a pair of drives that I bought on Ebay, that I am waiting to pick up. Over all the boat is in decent shape and at least this one has a cabin! I am waiting to sell my 36 Sea Ray Aft Cabin, so I can start puttin some money into the Scorpion!
I got a set of Mayfair wingplates for 280s on Scream and Fly if you anyone interested up there. I sold the motors they were off of to John (used to rig for MRD) had these things sitting around for over 2 years.
Maybe if things go right and I get the Scorpion done, we can meet at the NY boat race?
Talk to ya.
