That's correct. The 23' boat was a Regal only product.

Default 22' Velocity vs. Regal

I have heard similar opinions that Steve built some 22's for Regal. I have an 1986 solid dash boat with VMX HIN and a 1987 cut out dash with RGM HIN. The '86 needed complete floors and stringers and I found the mint '87 before I got too heavily invested in the '86. Both boats appear identical except for the cutout dash and floor opening for a cutty in the Regal boat. The Regal has a 735hp blower set up, runs 102MPH and has virtually NO stress cracks in hull or deck so I would say it is rock solid whether built by Steve or Regal. Some day I'll call or stop in to Sanford and get the real scoop.

I have a friend with a 23' Regal that broke appart just like my 24' Superboat did. The hull to deck joint split wide open because it was not glassed together.
I don't think that would happen to a boat built by Stepp.

Unfortunately, we separated the deck from the hull during a race in 92 in our then new 26' Thoroughbred.

Just goes to show, you can break anything!

Oach, that must have been a little scary.

The hull deck joint on both my buds 23' Regal and my 24' Superboat were only screwed together with wood screws that also held the rub rail on.
I'm quite sure lots of boats are built this way but I do know my Velocity is not.

ditto, my velocity is glassed (hull and deck) together.

So far as I know, all Stepp Velocities have the hull and deck glassed together, we had four of them and that's the way all were built.

We broke our boat in a rough race off of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Our port side K-plane got stuck in the full down position and we went off the top of a a rather large wave into an even bigger hole where we came down with a massive thud on our starboard side. After we shook off the shock of the impact, I went forward to check for damage. Didn't see anything untoward except for a loose rubrail and didn't realise it was my weight that was holding the deck to the hull.

We started off again and I noticed my feet were getting wet. I looked forward through the cabin and could see daylight. The separation went just about from the point of the bow back to the end of the cabin. We still finished the race and came second though.

I had an 88 Regal 22. A lot of stringer work was done on it before I got it. There were no stress cracks in it. I traded it in on a 2010 Velocity 22 with a 525EFI. Velocity in Sanford has my old one for sale still. I watched them glass the deck to the hull on the 2010. You can buy my 2010 in about 20 years when Steve builds another one for me. I am curious to see what will be powering that boat.
