well--after a few weeks of looking at boats that would fit my desires I have decided on the '99 320 I have spoke about. Plan is for a survey this Wednesday, hoping to pull it home then. What expectations should I have of the surveyor or are they ALL pretty educated on what to inspect?
Just another ? Why the hell did Velocity put those cheap plastic dividers on the inner walls to make compartments? I have looked at several boats and ALL of the dividers are cracked?????

Bill, it is in King George, Va. About 50 miles N of Richmond.

Here's the only pic I could find that shows what I am talking about. The plastic piece can be seen in the pic behind the bolster seat. It runs from the floor up about 12" or so and gives a small open top compartment.

Bill,
On your boat, my prior boat, the "dividers" he is talking about are wood, or starboard, and covered with carpet to match that in the cockpit. The boat you have was hull #1 and some of the finish details were not totally thought out when it was built. Your's has a different galley and head compartment set up as well. Later builds have the molded glass / plastic side panels in the cockpit, and molded galley and head compartments. Your set up, in the cabin, actually works better and gives more useable space as well as a more open feel. The head compartment door, that I gave you on purchase, was another of the details that came into play on the boats that followed.

BTW, was good talking to you when you ran into Dave at the races. What are the odds that would happen. He says you're taking real good care of the Edge. And what about those Fountains you were going to check out for me down there in your area? Let me know if they are worth looking into. Thanks, Peter

my 1996 280 had the side panels covered in carpet. A few years ago i had my boat back to Velocity for some paint work and i had mine replaced with the new ones and i have not had any trouble with them. to me they just look cleaner

Mike, "the newer ones"? Are they plastic? I haven't even bought the boat yet and I'm trying to figure out how to replace them :cool-smiley-026:

i thank mine are glass i just can't see how they could get broken unless someone was standing on them or trying to stuff something real big behind them. my brother has a 98 280 and his are fine to. but if i can remember they warrant that expansive

The survey is set for Wed morning. I am going there Tue night. If all works out right I should be coming home with it Wed night. I am already thinking of changes to make :D

The asking price is much lower then what the finance company is willing to finance and that doesn't include the '06 trailer. I think I am going to finance a little more then what I pay for it so I can make some immediate upgrades. There's no external steering so I think I would like to add that. I would like to add a fridge to the cabin and maybe even add A/C. Haven't really looked into pricing on the fridge or A/C but know I really would like a full hyd set up. Any other necessary upgrades anyone has to offer up? It has Stainless marine exhaust and K&N filters already. I know you fellas have got to love to spend someone elses $ like I do so speak up.

Good luck on Wednesday.

Steering is a great first enhancement - from a performance, safety and ease of docking standpoint! If it doesn't already have Hydromotive Q4 props, then I'd set aside money for those as they work best on a 320 with your power set up.

Be sure to talk to somebody first about driving the 320 as it needs to be trimmed and tabbed differently then the average boat. It's not hard but a little guidance goes a long way toward having a great first run.
