Default Props for a 28 Velocity?

Hi Guys,
I bought VelocityRick's 1999 28 last week and I'm putting a shopping list together.
I spoke to Rick last night about a number of things including what props to run.
I'd like to here a few more opinions before I buy a prop.
I'm not looking to ring the last 2mph out of the boat at this point so what would be the best all around prop?
The second question would be left or right hand rotation?
The last question is what pitch? with a 415HP/502Mag for power.
Thank you,

Please feel free to comment here as well.

probably a 26 pitch bravo or hydro. the hydro will probably be a little faster, but you'll get less blowout from the bravo. I've seen no reason not to switch to left rotation.

It sounds like a 26p B1 LH is going to be the first prop I try.
Thanks

Some 280s like a left hand prop and some do not so don't be disappointed if it does not work. Also it is harder on the drive to turn the prop left handed. Just some things to think about.

I run right hand bravo props because of less slip and more user friendly for all around driving. I would think the 26 would be a good starting point.

The best prop for your boat would probably be a 26p bravo but I would not rule out a 26 hydromotive for this stock power. I ran a 24p hydromotive on my 280 with 454/300 and the boat ran about 65mph. I would think that with an extra 100 plus hp you may be able to turn a 28p hydromotive or a nice labbed 28 bravo 1. As for turning LH, I would not with a stock bravo drive.

Thanks for the info guys!
I believe VelocityRick was running a lefty with good luck so I'll check with him again before buying.
The drive guys don't seem to think running lefty with my power on a stock drive is a problem.
Thanks again!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Ive been running 650hp through a standard bravo one with zero problems. Its all in how you treat it.

I'm thinking the drive will be fine too.
I have a friend with a 1997 29' Fountain with a 525sc hooked to the original stock B1 for nearly 700 hours with no problems to date.
I hope I didn't just jinks both of us...

haha yeah.

The velocity is a light boat though, and as long as you ease it up to speed and don't fly it too much, you should have no problems.
