Prop Blowout on twin Outboard
 

I have a 26' T-bred with 14.5x26 choppers (Machs I think). From a rolling start at idle the props blow out under full throttle once the boat comes on plane,but, by pulling back on the throttles for a split second and punching them again it hooks and stays hooked up to WOT. Is this normal for this hull or is there a prop that will hook up and stay hooked up from idle to WOT. Do I need to try a diffrent prop. I am running twin 280s' on a porta bracket if this info helps. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Bob.

Hey bullet,i have a 30 with tripp 200's,26 choppers,its old and slow,but at idle,it just leaps out and has no blowout,after it planesoff,i trim it out and goes to 70.:D:D: :D lotsa fun tripps

My boat planes out then the powerband kicks in ,the props blow and with a quick pull then push of the throttle it hooks and accelerates to WOT. Friends said that it should hook up and stay hooked up with no blowout at all.

Choppers may be the fastest top end, but you may want to try a set of 4 blade props like Revolution 4s for better overall performance.

Seems that prop has a huge amount to do with blow then hull/drive design

Once on plane after the slip it hooks up and pulls to 7000 rpm and the boat is super stable no walking. The props are definately designed to lift the bow. I am happy with the props otherwise. The previous owner said the fastest props he ran was 15x 26 merc chopper i assume keeping the motor in 7000 + rpms

Bullet,when Dana owned your boat,he would put the versa bracket all the way down and slowly roll up on the throttles and when the props broke free and started to cavitate he would ease out slightly and they would bite and off he would go.Try coming up on plane easy and see if that helps because the props with there design will naturally try to ventilate.PS The 320 in your avater who now owns that boat it used to belong to Ted Link here in Delaware.
