What do you mean by "tripping the boat"?

Andy, The you tube show it. Although it may not be clear. I'll try to explain. When you are running hard across some seas skipping from one to the next nice, fast and fun. Then one sneaks in and throws the bow up and before the boat has a chance to settle back in the stern trips on top of the next sea and throws the bow down. As an occupant you get the sensation of getting sucked out of the boat. The next thing that generally happens is the bow digs in and either stuffs or veers off to one side or the other. It falls in the category of bad hops. I can list a bunch of specific examples I've had over the years. Briefly some guys went swimming, some glass work was necessary , sometimes both was true.

on my old 30 the tabs broke on me a few times and it was hard just getting it home with out them .To go fast I would set the tabs at under 90mph and then trim with my drives only . The boat would balance better that way for me . All the weight was in the tail , C O G was way off on mine . I always tried to run flat , was afraid to would blow over if didn"t. Fun to drive !!!

My first memories of Jim he was driving an single outboard picklefork ? sitting in tandem tail walking on the prop in the soulth river . That was a long time ago . And looked pretty wild !
