Looking at purchasing a 1997 Velocity for around 20K
The boat looks to be in great overall condition. Motor was rebuilt 30 Hrs ago.
My question is are there alot of changes in the boat from 97 to current?
Is a 1997 too old?

I don't beleve there has been many changes to the hull. The 97 would be the same as a Velocity 280. Some minor cabin changes but nothing major.

i'm not saying anything about the boat you are looking at but you sould take an extensive look at the hull and make sure that there hasn't been any glass work or any stress cracks. there was a problem with the 280 model in that year range. they had delamination problems. there are three boats that i know of personaly and they would not stand behind the warranty of the hull and all three were only 1 or 2 years old. these boats also had stock power. not trying to turn you away from the boat, it may be a #10 but do your research.

That is a good hull as well as a very well mannered hull.If the boat has not broken after all of these years with somewhat modest power then that should speak for itself.I have owned several and still have a Velocity and I would say it sounds like a good deal.I would also recomend have someone who knows what they are looking at check it out with you,good luck on your decision and if you buy it you will have alot of fun with it.

for what it's worth i have a 96 26/280 with big power in it 1000+ and it has not broken yet my brother has a 98 280 with big power and it is fine. With all older boats it is a good idea to have it checked out. Also there is no way i would sell mine that cheep

This must be the one on ebay. Teal stripe. Great price,and looks, but like others have someone check it over. Looks like a fun boat.
