B.o.a.t.=$$$
On wednesday took the boat out for some more shake down runs. After blasting around I checked under the hatch for leaks and found a small water leak at the intake spacer. Figured if it was leaking on the outside was probably leaking on the inside so I shut off one of the twins and idled back to the dock. Next day I pulled the blower and intake and found that it was leaking water into the oil. I also found a lifter,pushrod, parts of the guide plate and big chrome chunks sitting in the lifter galley WTF? There was no drop in oil pressure, 80 psi, or a bad running issue prior to shutting down? I checked the cam where the lifter popped out and it was fine, checked the lobe on the next lifter over and it was fuked. Pulled the engine, stripped it apart. What I found was that the lifter right beside the one that popped out had the whole lifter base smashed off and it ground into my cam( in picture). Flushed engine,coolers and checked bearings which were slightly scuffed and put the ***** back togeather. When I tossed the oil filter in the garbage it made a funny sound like there was a bolt in it. Pulled it out of the garbage and looked inside and found it had all come apart causing a quick drop in pressure which caused the lifter to bounce on the cam lobe smashing the end off. Its a Wix filter and am going to put in a parts and labour claim(good luck). Anyway put in 30 hrs in a 24 hr day flashed them both up last night and alls good except for my killer hangover.
