Need help with my Drive Indicator on my Dash,
Ever since i installed the new engine The Drive Indicator on the Dash is not working, i checked the wires behind the gauges and everything looked fine. The drive works, but i would like to know where my drive is when i driving, what should i be looking for , and where should i look..

I'm guessing it's electric and you forgot to plug in the 2 wires that go from the transom assembly to the back of the motor.

It's a pair of black wires coming through the transom plate assembly. One should go to a ground circuit and the other should be connected to a brown/white wire that goes to the trim gauge. Hopefully it's a wiring issue in the engine compartment or the guage opposed to replacing the sending unit. You can do a resistance test on the sender to check it out as it resistance will change with the drive position. Good luck.

I had to replace my cables on mine. They had stiffened up opver the years and would get stuck.

i just checked the wiring behind the guage so it looks like it is an electrical guage..n if it's the sender, that means dropping the drive..:-(

Correct - plus it's no easy feat feeding the two wires through the transom assembly.

fellas,
i think i found the problem.. i found two wires coming out of the transome plate that r not connected..they look both to be black, with each having two leads on them..but i'm not sure where they plug into.. i went from an efi to a carb motor, so i'm not sure why the engine installer did not connect them..maybe one goes to the guage and the other ?..i will take some pisc tomorrow and post them..

thanks Q
