Bus gets a face lift

Bus now at the fiberglass shop to get the deck re-done . Having them pull out the interior for me to have updated . That just leaves the gauges in the spring . Come on spring !!!

Velocity Vector 12-09-2009 07:10 PM

Cool!

Single Screw 32 12-09-2009 07:18 PM

Good Deal Ray.....Atleast you know what you have in the old girl...Re- doing the 6 man or putting in a different style?

notda1 12-10-2009 07:12 AM

keeping the 6 man , don't think there is room for a back seat . Plus it's probably safer for the crew to keep it. Also this winter hoping to get the props dialed in , got them boxed up and ready to ship out . Shooting to have a faster better looking boat by spring . I think now I'm glad she didn't sell .

1HYPER1 12-10-2009 10:58 AM

Cool Ray,once you do the deck and paint her she will be back to her old self and kickin some buttttttttt. What colors are you going with.

Beats they hell out of spending 200K, besides she's a classic, I really like the Bus. I finally got the fever out of me too on a new purchase. Ya got to work on all of them might as well be paid for right?

notda1 12-10-2009 07:41 PM

Deck will have fresh new fiberglass and I might just leave the sides the way they are . Excited to have her looking refreshed . Hoping tweeking the props will make a big difference in top end to . It's going to seem like a long winter .

Single Screw 32 12-11-2009 05:40 AM

Ray, Are you putting a whole new deck on or just repairing the old(That deck was all wood, right?) Might lose a pound or 2. Keep us posted when the BUS is up and running and the light house Tours start up again and the wife and I will have to buy a ticket(Lunch) LOL

Andy 12-11-2009 10:41 AM

Hee, I can't believe my trailer is not gold plated as much $$ as I have in it. I would like you to drive my boat...We will meet up sometime. I'm saving up for some boost gauges & a couple of sng. carb polished whipple 3.3L compressor's and MOAC's. I'm not selling my boat I got to much in it and it is fixen to get a little more. I'm thinking mild 800-850HP each so I don't have to hammer on it so hard and still have some decent numbers on the speedo..

Thanks Screw, I said to myself when I started this Velocity I was only going to do this once so I better just stick with what I started with, I really don't think I would be happy with anything else. I have 10 hrs. on the engines now so I think they are ready to be topped off. I'm just a mildly sick puppy, Now this is a really sick puppy, I saw this old 38' cig the other day with some big a$$ PSI blowers, The owner gave a good discription of the PSI's. He said, "PSI's, give your engines the look of small blocks sitting on top of big blocks." I don't think he could of said it any better.

The blowers rock but the exhaust downpipes have to go. Last time I saw somthing that looked like that, draught beer was pouring out of them, unless draughed beer does come out of them then I take it back!!

Looking forward to it Hyper, I just got hired on again, I been laying on my a$$ for about 10 months now, Since I been home so much the wife gets mad at me so easy seems like. Just the other night she cussed me out, for walking through the house with my boots on again. P!$$ed me off so bad I just about went off on her! I said to myself, "VV calm down son you can handle this", so I decided to just jump on the bike and go for a quick spin, to cool off. Then I asked her," I'm sorry honey, did you say something?" Then Farted really loud. I'm just glad I took that anger managment class a few years ago.

Had a nice visit at the factory with with Steve , Kim and Kenny . They are still doing great work down there . I am going to have to save some money and have him build me a new one some day . We were talking 700's but , I told him Bob's thinks 1075's of course . Always nice to get input from you Bob . Where upgrades and over the top are expected .

It's good to see they are still moving forward. I've spent many good times with Steve and Kim over the years. They are one of the many reasons why I've enjoyed 3 VELOCITYS over a 25 year period. Very good people. Ray you know me, a VELOCITY can never have to much power. You always seemed to use all the power you had. So I would say we are both over the top, as expected. :evilb:

Another understatement from Bob....

notda1 12-20-2009 09:40 AM

I noticed that with most Velocity owners and their power , to much is still not enough . We all seem to share the need for speed , and lots of it . A lot of us trying to squeeze out any little extra we can . Another common interest with most of us Velocity guys . I know I am guilty , and probably need to do more self medicating .

Velocity Vector 12-20-2009 01:35 PM

I look at it like this, in an overpowered Velocity the engines have to work less hard and actually saves the life of the engines. Big HP can run bigger props, cruise the same speed with a lot less rpms, thus my theory. My 320 likes 70 to cruise, I can cruise 70 @ 3800 rpms now with 34's where before and 496's @70 was like 4500 rpms with 30's. I feel like I'm trying to convince my wife for more power. See honey numbers don't lie...:) Which engine is going to last longer the 3800 rpm engine or the one running 4500 rpms? I would like to get that 70 mph number down to 3000 rpms....

notda1 12-20-2009 05:08 PM

Crazy as it sounds , I understand where he's coming from and agree . I belong with a group like this , makes me feel less ABnornal

Velocity Vector 12-20-2009 06:05 PM

While we are on the subject, I like my women like my engines "overpowered" with big, lets just say props..:)
