New Velocity owner

Hello again folks. I posted in the fall about a 1998 260 (24') Velocity I was considering buying, and I'm glad to say I've now joined you all as a Velocity owner. I love the looks of this boat, and the more reading I do on here about these boats has me EXTREMELY excited to get it on the water.
After talking with the previous owner I've decided the first thing I'd like to do is get it propped correctly. It's running a 540ci (supposedly in the area of 600hp), 1.5 ratio Bravo 1 (the lower half is 2" shorter supposedly) and a 4 blade 24 pitch cleaver.
I started with calling a highly recommended propeller service I saw you all talking about in these forums. He told me the 2" shorter lower is actually too short on this boat and I'd probably need a 5 blade in the 27-28 range to use it, without the shortened lower a 4 blade 29-30 might work. What I need to do first is verify if it's really shortened. If anyone is able to give me the measurement of the lower half of either a shortie or a stock Bravo 1 to compare to mine I'd appreciate it. If it is short I guess the decision will be whether to go back to stock length or not. Any suggestions?
Here's a couple photo's

i could also measure one from the cav plate to the top of the shaft and get close but keep in mine a 2'' does not have a cav plate on the lower. Oh and nice ride should be fast with that kinda power but you are going to need a lot more prop

Congrats. I just bought my 280 a few weeks ago. I am so pumped for warm weather.

Your boat should fly.

Post some pics of the drive, and someone will be able to tell you if its a shortie.

Well, I went to my storage building on my way home today and tried to take the photos of the drive only to have dead batteries in the camera I borrowed from my daughter, I'll probably have to ground her for that, lol.
Anyhow, what I came up with so far: If you measure from the center of the propshaft to where the mating surfaces of the upper and lower come together its very close to 10.25 inches. the prop has no diameter markings but measures about 15.25 inches in diameter and can't have more than a half inch clearance on the top to the housing. Just by standing back and looking it appears about the top third of the prop is above the hull pad surface. If that doesn't help I can try the photo again tomorrow.

Dude Gen 3's on that, guess you want to get the exhaust out in a flash.
