What a wonderful story!

It must be so special to operate the boat that was such a significant part of your Father/Uncle's (too short) life.

I wish you many years of safe and happy boating behind the wheel of StillCrazy!

Hey guys, It was great to meet you at the ramp in Sarasota and drool over your boat and see you guys again on Duvall at the races. The boat is awesome in person. Maybe in the spring when I'm down testing the Phantom, which I left in Sarasota after KW, you might like to try those wheels I got and we can buzz around. Great job . Brian

What's up Brian, sorry we missed your post in Dec. Good meeting you and seeing you again in KW for sure! In hindsight I wish we wouldn't have chosen to leave the boat in Naples for the KW weekend, but the weather report looked horrible. Next year we're going to bring it no matter what.

We had a great time on New Year's day running in Sarasota in the Joey Gratton Memorial Run, the weather couldn't have been better and the boat was running perfectly. If Freeze Frame sees this maybe he can post one of the helicopter shots we got from him!

PM me if you're in Sarasota again and we'll see if we can get you out on StillCrazy:)

SOOOOOO,

I thought I might start this up again and stir the pot :party-smiley-004:

I just wanted to say what an amazing boat Still Crazy really is. The amount of detail in the paint work and full stainless rub rail are incredible. I just wanted to post a picture, in hopes of some others putting up pics of the past 4th of July weekend in Sarasota.

Mike and Jordan are champs and were honestly the most down to earth people I met all weekend. My father and I had the privilage to meet with them during the fun run on sunday and saw them on and off throughout the week. Everytime I spoke with them you could tell it was a passion and a feeling of gratitude to be involved in the week long festivities. My hats off to them and also being a 20 yr watcher from the sidelines I can relate and say its great to see a tru classic crushin some water again. The drinking was great, the parties were great and the boats were even better.

Beautiful

Memories of Still Crazy, I was 13 or 14 when the accident happened, I remember being able to crawl all over
the boat when it was parked in the Pompano warehouse and I remember seeing the boat after it was brought
back from Key West... the day it happened I remembered my dad coming home in tears, he rented the other
side of the shop from Dick Fullam and became pretty good friends with him. He was very good to my dad
when starting his own business. A few months after the accident my father shut down and moved out of the shop.

Is the V boat going to be in Mt Dora next weekend?

32 Active Thunder 11-04-2013 10:14 AM

Can't believe I missed this story!! Dam good job guys not to many people have the drive or passion to complete a project like that the story would make a good short film kinda like what espn does on there 30 for 30 episodes!! Best of luck to you guys and your family's

StillCrazy J&M 11-04-2013 02:11 PM

Unfortunately we will not be in Mt. Dora. Pretty big scheduling conflict having that event the same weekend as the World Championships in Key West.

We will be heading down to Key West with StillCrazy in tow on Thursday! We've had the boat down there twice so far and it's never left the trailer (on display both times). We can never seem to bum rides on other peoples boats so this year we are keeping it in the water so there will be no doubt that we'll be out boating:)

32AT - thanks for the kind words, it was a dream project for us and a piece of our family history that we'll have forever!

sspeed33317 11-05-2013 01:18 PM

Ah maybe ill head down that way instead, never been to Key West...

21eagle 11-05-2013 01:25 PM

Yea I missed the story too, awesome story not many times I read all 45 pages but this is one. The pics of your grandfather going out on the boat brought a tear to my eye. I'm sure he was feeling a lot of emotions going out on the boat. By the way he looks unbelievable for 90!!!! You still in Naples? My parents are in park shore Naples ill be down January would love to check it out, buy you guys a beer.

Our Grandpa is an absolutely amazing person and still going strong at 93! I know it was incredibly special for him to be able to go out on StillCrazy with us. He said the last time he was on a race boat was with Mike on Intimidator in 1979 at a race in Michigan I believe! With Mike losing his dad before he was two and my parents divorcing before I was three our grandpa was like a father to us both. I think us finding StillCrazy, restoring her and being able to share it with him has finally brought some sort of closure for him after Mikes death. It's something he has struggled with since 1985 and I think he is grateful that we have brought a piece of Mike's life back into the family.

I (Jordan) still live in Naples Monday thru Friday and am in Sarasota for the weekends. Mike is in Sarasota full time. The boat is behind our house in Sarasota as the boating up there is phenomenal. If you feel like coming up to Sarasota for the day we'd be happy to show you the boat or take you out if the day permits.

Thanks for checking out the thread!

Sounds good Jordan, ill touch base when I'm down there.

bobo1 04-19-2014 07:20 AM

Absolutely amazing story Jordan!! I was on Siesta Key this last weekend and got a couple great shots of Still Crazy running. Me and the wife were laying on the beach and I heard this boat coming....I had a feeling it may just be an old race boat as for when im in Florida I always keep my eyes open for old race boats. Low and behold I scrambled for my camera to try to snap a few good shots. Being a boater from Cleveland, that sure made my offshore fix for the week in Florida! I need to find someone to post a couple pics. Congrats on the whole documentary of this old classic! ps. Putt-
Putt was my favorite boat to watch back in the GLOPRA days!

Still Crazy at 93+ MPH up on the pad, carrying the bow, is the most awesome vee-hull footage I have ever seen - THANK YOU for sharing!!!

What kind of flooring is that? I've got carpet in mine, and not a big fan of it.

Y'all gonna make Ryan's NYD run in Sarasota?

StillCrazy J&M 12-23-2014 11:08 PM

It's called PVC loop from Jim's Marine Flooring. Basically very similar to Decadence flooring. No mold, no holding water or dirt.

We're going to miss Ryan's run again on New Year's as we'll be flying back from Park City. We'll probably be out that following weekend though.

It's definitely an awesome sight for sure! The first time Mike and I watched that video was extra special for us...we were sitting in Steve Stepps living room going through all his old vhs racing tapes after a day of working on the boat at the Velocity Factory. It was a surreal project:)

Still Crazy is still running strong as ever. We had her in Key West for the World Championships this year and run around Naples Florida, where I live. Mike is in the Military serving our Country at the moment so we don't get to blast around in StillCrazy together often anymore, but he was just here over the holidays and we of course had to take her out😎:boat:
