Velocity/Regal Velocity
I'm looking at an 86 22/23. Seller says its a regal velocity, but I want to know for sure myself. I know Velocity closed up shop in 87 I think it was. Was there a Regal Velocity and Velocity produced by Stepp in 86. What are the differences?

Steve Stepp joined forces with Regal sometime in 1986. The early Regal Velocity's were built under the watchful eye of Steve Stepp. Regal and Stepp had a falling out a few years later over quality control issues and Steve Stepp formed Thoroughbred while fighting to get the name "Velocity" back from Regal. I owned a 1988 Regal 230 Velocity with a 454 Magnum. To this day it still one of my all time favorite boats. The only issue I had with my Regal Velocity was the hinges tearing out of my engine hatch. Regal replaced the entire hatch under warranty.

Also, see if he'll give you the HIN number. That will tell you who made it. BTW, I had an '88 30 ft Regal, and currently have a 1990 30 ft Regal. Both were/are great boats. |
