Velocity Factory
Hey has anyone had work done on their boat at the factory since new ownership? Looking to hear about the workmanship and if it's still good work as when Steve owned it. I'm planning to have a 1981 30' race deck I/O transformed to outboards so they have to cut the transom and glass in a splash well. Any info in this matter is gladly appreciated. Thanks

call Kenny , he did a lot of work for me last year and was fantastic to work with ,everything he said was done to a t, as long as he is involved you will leave a happy man.

I'm in constant contact with him. What did you have done at the factory?
|
I had some seat upholstery work perfectly completed over the winter.

Anyone else with any experience at the velocity factory? What work did you have done and how was the workmanship, we're you satisfied? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Dalo, do not cut out the transom for a splashwell..add a 24" setback box from Stainless Marine. You will get additional floatation in the stern. The setback will allow cleaner water to the props and you'll be able to mount your outboards higher for better top end speed and handling. By keeping the full transom you will also retain the sunpad on the engine cover and have a great big storage space!!!

I don't like that look for a race deck, a center console is fine but not a race deck

The Velocity notch transom hull does Not benefit from the added setback like a conventional hull. Velocities have the clean water and higher X benefits built into the design according to Steve Stepp. That said I can't say I've seen any extension arrangements (except Merc Racing ITS steering) coming out of the Velocity factory. While I get the setback box floation part while in the water, the weight balance would not be as good when airborn - well not w/o having added ballast weight upfront!

I believe what Jupiter is saying and i agree that its not about the look. What he said will almost positively help the overall performance and handling of the boat. Sorry to Jupiter if I messed up what he was saying.
