Mitch did the name for me in vinyl to match the painted Velocity logos. I know this name has been used, but I liked it and I doubt I'll run into another up in Minnesota.

I'm done working on the boat for now. But, over next winter I plan to redo the sunpads to all cream vinyl and change the red carpet to gray Deckadence flooring.

I finally got the boat out in my home waters for the first time in a couple of months. It was freakin' hot, but a good day. Ran about 65 miles on the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers.

The boat looks great! When you tire of it, let me know and hopefully I'll be in a position to buy it. Ha. ;)

Any performance numbers yet?

Thanks! No on the performance. The Hering props that came on the boat hit the rev limiter while still climbing. I rented a couple of Maximus that I tried yesterday. But, they were not a matched set. I could spin the RH prop 250 RPM more than the LH. It would also blow out getting on plane, but the other would not. Very frustrating as this was money wasted. I have a feeling it will take me all season to find the right props.

If you can get the props set up in one season you are better than most.

You may be right. I just tried some Hydromotive P5X's and barely got on plane. They also had a ton of slip. So far, nothing has bested the Hering 6-blades. If I keep them, they will need to be tweaked to bring the RPM's down a bit as they hit the limiter. I plan to speak with Steve Stepp before I make another move, but I'm starting to think the drives are too high. The prop shaft centers are 1" above the outside edge of the pad.

I just measured the prop centerline on my single engine 280. The centerline is 4" below the pad. I know it's a completely different boat with different power but I hope it helps.

It does sound like your x may be too high. I know that the standard Hydro P5's can be a little finicky to plane off with high-x "side by side" 390. With the P5X's and more weight forward than a side by side set-up 390, I would have expected that to be a winning combination for you. One conversation with Steve will set you on the right path!

Well, Steve S. said he believes this boat was set up for a Hyromotive P5 and doesn't think I should mess with the drive height. The P5 has a larger diameter than both the P5X and the Hering. Unfortunately, Bblades doesn't have these in their test program, so I may not have a choice but to buy a set.

I believe Hydromotive has a test program. Give Tom at Hydromotive a call. Nice guy and very knowledgeable About props and knows what works on Velocity.
