I don't think I'm going to hit 700 with out spinning at least 6000 rpm. I just want a decent running boat. Probably set limiters at 5500. 85 mph will make me happy so anything over that is good . I've heard that boat will do pretty good but 100 mph will take some brute power. You guys know these boats better than I do. 41 ft 9000 lbs dry. So 10000 lbs. I know that isn't heavy compared to other boats but it's still a good sized boat.. I think I'm going to get 680 hp and maybe 700 torque . I hope but also thinking realistic. They don't run the same in the boat as on the dyno. What's your thought.

One of the last 39s got merc 565s and went 99mph. I think it was a lightweight though. Weight matters a lot. And merc 565 is probably equivalent to a 600hp. They probably got the x way up too.

surprisingly you don’t see lots of talk on 41s, despite being a relatively fast hull

Most of the velocity boats are up there in x, mine is. I get a quite a bit of prop slip until it gets up around 55-60. I've only had mine wide open once. With the EQ heads. I could barely see with no windshield, my cheeks were flapping and goggles bailed out on me so don't know how fast it was going , also had one tab dragging a little and one drive wasn't coming up. All the solenoids had to be replaced. They would make contact then not. Lol iknow I was turning about 5200 or so with with 30 pitch Ron Hill sl4 props. He said they are a true 30. So who knows.

The 390 really flies. 1 ft shorter and 1000 lbs lighter. I bet it's it's close to 10 mph faster with same power

I'm afraid I don't know what you are talking about. I don't post any pictures on OSO. I posted the pic of the Velocity, but that was the first one I have been able to post. I did have a photo thread on here at one time, but I had to link them all and I think the links are broken now.

I think you'll see high 80's maybe 90 MPH with 680 HP if all else good with your boat. "Velocity" said 80 MPH with the Bull Dogs when I went for a ride on YOUR boat at the Miami in water show. Joel Ross was driving and he's a straight up guy. I believe it was at the circa 2003 Miami Show and there was a colorful 410 with KE 675's on display inside with a claim of 96 MPH. That seemed fast to me at the time as it had a full dressed cabin and no apparent weight saving program. It must have been dialed in perfectly. I believe there soon were issues with KE's however and the boat was retrofitted with Ilmors. Turned out to be a great boat. All that said I'm sure you'll see your speed goal!
