Thoughts on the 32 velocity. I see a couple for sale with 496 HO. Claiming 80 mph. Anyone have expirence with these boats. Rough water capability? I know with the pad bottom it may not have the best rough water ride. They look to have nice cockpit and cabin size. How is he engine compartment for working on them? I tried a search but could not come up with much.
Thanks

Ziemer has a 30 foot Velocity which is the same hull as the 32 that he is currently re doing. He really likes it. See his thread on re doing the bilge. A 32 Velocity should run 80 mph if set up correctly.

Depending on what year 32' the bottoms are different than the original 30's. Somewhere around 2010-12 the 320 bottom was changed back to original bottom. The earlier 320's were built using the 41' mold and had a narrower pad.
My 2003 has HP465's and runs well north of 80 with stock Bravo 1 props any day. Efficient fun hull with pretty large cockpit, decent cabin for the size, and will be hitting the market in the next month or two.

The 320 is a cut down version of the 410. It has a narrower pad and the hull is different than the original 30's. Late 2000's they built the 322 which was based off the original 30 hull design. The 30 SUB is also off the old 30.

Yeah that sounds intriguing. I sold my 28 checkmate and need a "family" boat. I'm a little nervous with the rougher landings I know that is just about the only thing my wife cares about it rough water ride. So the 32 May be fast and fun to drive for me, but the wife may not be happy. Anyone have feed back on how it would compare to a 35 fountain single step?

The landings will be dictating by how high and how hard you are running in the rough. At 40-45, and the tabs dropped, the boat isn't going to launch. With the 24 degree entry at the bow, it's doing all the work with the tabs down. Head on or following sea, these boats do great. But like any V-bottom, a side to sea, can bang ya a bit.
I don't think there will be much ride difference between the 320 and a 35 Fountain. That 35, is probably only a foot or so longer.

Yeah I classify the 35 fountain as a 31-32 footer.
My checkmate was a true 28ft, 30 footer by today's standards. I'm looking for something a little bigger, better performance. How well balanced is the 32 velocity with twin big blocks. Or should I be looking for a 39?

I have the older style, and mine is very well balanced. It is a true 30' as it doesn't have a molded swim platform. I believe that is the case with the 320 also. Are there any somewhat close to you to look at or ride in?
