New to me 22' Velocity questions

Hey Gang,
Just picked up a 1998 22' Velocity with 454 MPI and Bravo 1 drive - can anyone tell me how big the gas tank is, if it's aluminum or plastic and basic construction of the boat - stringers, hull, transom?????
Any Velocity brochures on this boat???
Thanks!!

It should have a 50 gal aluminum tank and the boat uses wood wrapped in fiberglass for its construction. I would assume that's the 385 hp motor so it should run around 65 ish maybe a little better.

It''ll be an aluminum tank. There should be panel access under rear seat for the tank sender etc and you'll see a capacity badge (`50 gallons likely). Assuming Velocity used the same build schedule on the 22 it will be biaxial and triaxial knitted fabric, a balsa layer and vinylester resin for the hull. I think Deco-lite coring was used for a composite deck construction on my 320. Hull deck joint is glassed over. Rear seat and gunnels will likely be non-wood construction all other main structural items will be sealed wood. I believe I have spec's for the 1997 22' model.

Thanks for info guys!!! Revelocity - you're right on target - I found an old Velocity dealer website that has the same info! Thanks again - can't wait to get this thing out for some 'drive-time' as I understand with the shallow dead-rise - it can get a little 'scary' if not driven responsibly.

Quick question - the front bucket seats are bolted right on the floor - (no seat bases) is this standard or ???? I'm 5'9" and think I need to add about a 4" seat base - anyone have any pics of the front buckets and/or bases??

Thanks again.

No there should be a seat base between the floor and your vinyl covered seat. The early 22's used an aluminum pedestal base that would allow the seat to rotate. I suspect your's may have had a carpeted box style base that may have been removed. I'm sure that base will give you enough height. There's a 2001 22' on Powerboatlisting.com that you can see the box seat base on..http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/14009
