290SC DIY & Upgrades
Finished up some at home upgrades and thought I'd share. Boat had purple/ yellow combo and the yellow wasn't working for me. Stripe above rail was removed first back in June, then the yellow stripe on the sun pad along with new rub rail. I just completed the sides this weekend and updated the registration numbers as well. Plans to redo the graphics are last on my list of mods so this will hold me over for the time being. Prep and taping off were time consuming but it was worth the effort. Used spray paint then wet sanded for a smooth finish on the sides and vinyl paint for the pad. Have some purple touch up on the way to clean up some spots as well. Glad it's almost done and happy with the results.

Thanks guys! I'll keep adding updates for the heck of it.
The original Guest charger from 2003 was removed and replaced with a 3 bank ProMariner ProTournament charger. The boat had acid, gel and AGM batteries. Converted to all AGM and needed a better charging system to keep the batteries healthy. New charger has a test option to see each individual output status... no more guessing what's running low. Half the weight as well. Forgot to take finished install pic. Should probably invest in a new isolator soon as well. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5616/...d6bbe066_b.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5775/...7b51f84f_h.jpg |

Christmas just came early for me! Kenny and Bryan just completed another upgrade on the 290. I spent a great deal of time trying to design the interior via Photoshop and input from Kenny was essential to keep it looking cool but functional for the way we use it. Bryan has an attention to detail and steady hand for sure when he sews this stuff together... talented man! Kenny was in full contact with me all the way with pics and info... awesome! The patience these guys afforded me was outstanding and I can't thank them enough for knocking this project out of the park. Would love to post all 6 million pics I have but will break it down to a friendly few here. Thanks a million LTB!!

the Lonisel (spelling ) coin flooring - did you lay down all brand new coin flooring or have it refinished from the original coin flooring --- it looks darker than the original plus really looks brand new. They really get dirty over time.
|
Soft Scrub with bleach works well for cleaning that type of floor.

I redid the flooring. The original was tan and worn so thin that it looked dirty... was actually see through at spots. The color used is silver and did a purple lay in carpet as well.
Soft scrub works very well! My go to was Simple Green with magic erasure... I like the way it cleans up post scrubbing. Again, can't go wrong either way. |
Very nice job on the interior!
|
Great job! Looks like a new boat!

Lookin good. Funny how great minds think alike. I've been working on the same thing. Installed a Wetsounds 400w 4ch amp and 2 JL Audio 7.7s and 2 6.5's. Kept the stock Sony 6.5's in the cuddy. Sound is amazing vs before!!!
|
Haha... nice Ryan! That probably sounds killer for sure!!! Did you put all 4 speakers under the rear seat? I ask because I'm thinking about two more by the driver/pass seats (on the other 2 channels) but not sure where to go with them.
I had Polk 6x9's in vented boxes under the back seat with a car amp prior but the speaker covers were mesh and getting beat up. I tried the new Polk's minus the vented speaker boxes and lost lots of punch. Thought the rear seat storage area might work as the box but no good... and they're no longer protected inside... no good again. The MB amp is 75w RMS x 4 and seems to be more then enough. Friends are always shocked when they hear all that coming from 6x9's and the 2 -6.5's in the cuddy. Put some pics in here of your setup... love see it! |
My 290 came with a JL Audio 900w 5channel amp.. 10" subs in boxes under the rear seat (almost no storage left tho') has four JL 7.7's and four 6.5's (two in the cuddy)
The 6.5's are powered by the head unit.. Sounds pretty good but I'm thinking of adding some tweeters on the dash so I can hear it better while underway.. :)https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fb7b49f25e.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...53c83d5ba1.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ec58a6d99b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c43667f8b2.jpg |
