The 290SC were built with high quality marine plywood stringers, bulkheads and transom in addition to a balsa cored hull. The layup schedule for the hull calls for a high quality general purpose fiberglass resin with bi and tri directional fabrics. The deck is foam cored with vinylester resins.

So who has the most current year model 280 ??

My guess would be 2005 or possible early 2006 ? Just a guess

I found some brochures of Velocity's and the one brochure is prob 2006 possible -- ( says 30 th Anniversary on the brochure ). It does not even have a 280 showing. It does have the VR1 and the 290 SC along with the 260, 322, 360, 390, 410 and a 220 CC boat..

With the introduction of the 290 via the 2004 model year, the 280 was no longer actively marketed. Steve indicated to me that the 290 was a superior boat - better hull with the more spacious cabin important to female co-buyers - so the 280 was then built upon request only (no dealer inventory). I know of at least one 280 that was produced in 2004 - perhaps a 2005 model year boat. There also was a 280 bare hull program (no motor, no paint nor drive) in 2005 but I'm not aware of any sales.

couple of 2005 out for sale so I think 2005 was the last of the 280's.
