280 build
What year did the 280 completely get away from wood in its construction or maybe what HIN number did that all start with.
Also what is the most current year OEM Velocity 280 built ? 2008 ?? or am I way off ? |
Not sure when but my 2005 VR 1 has no wood, including transom. I assume the 280 and 290
Have the same construction. If anyone knows it will be Kenny. Padraig |
I think all 280's and 290 SC are made with wood; plywood stringers, bulkheads and transom. Earlier 280's also had a balsa deck. The 290SC and later 280's have foam-core decks with vinylester resin and balsa cored hull unless the complete boats were specially ordered with coosa and vinylester resins. The VR1's were constructed with coosa composites and vinylester resins and vacuumed bagged standard.

I wish the 290SC's were all built like the VR1's.

So how are the 290 SC's built then ?
|
So totally cool, never knew the vr1's were wood free. With this set up what does say a vr1 weight ? I've been hunting around and cant find an honest #.

No problems at all; I like the extra deck height and of the 290Sc and the enclosed head but would have preferred it to be constructed with coosa.
