Surprised no car port overhead - I guess Im used to my area and all the lake house owners I have to go to for mobile boat service & repair. Heck alot of them do not even have a boat trailer but they have car ports overhead.. In all fairness its a freakin pizza oven here with sun & heat more so than NY would ever be

Because of the lake freezing the dock comes out every fall and is stored on shore. There are a few folks who have boat houses on shore but as Chautauqua is a relatively shallow Lake this can be difficult too. More common is a canvas canopy on the lift.

Or zoning laws like ours. Enclosures for boats (boat houses/awnings/etc) are only grandfathered in. Therefore, there are very few....even though you need more money than God to be on the lake now. As much as i don't like this law on first thought, our lake would be cluttered more if it was allowed. We have many narrow bays and coves, therefore it would appear very cluttered and more closed in if everyone did this.

Looks great! So, what is the difference between a VR-1 and a 280/260?

Padraig 06-13-2018 07:40 AM

Thanks, Dave.
The VR 1 and 280 has pretty much the same bottom. The boat is somewhat lighter and more aerodynamic with a lower profile and a moulded in swim platform. It also has no wood anywhere in the boat. I don't know if it true for all of the VR 1s but this one runs flatter then my old 280.

From what I read the vr1 has the pad center offset to one side 1/2" unlike the 280 to help with prop torque.

Interesting, I never heard that before. Where did you read or hear this? Next time I talk with Kenny I'll ask him about it.

Thanks,
Padraig
