Coastal Marine Export in Boynton Beach FL?

Has anyone ever dealt with Mike Wood at Coastal Marine Export? Looking at an out drive he has, but the business is not listed in Better Business Or recognized by Merc. Just want to make sure it's legit before we send him a check. Any help would be great, thanks

I live in West Palm I will be down that way on Wednesday what is the address I can maybe swing by and see what kind of place it is

maverick 09-10-2012 04:48 PM

It is a fairly new business with some old racers involved. I've known Mike for 15 years, he maybe a lot of things, but not a thief. I think your money is good.

DEFYN GRAVITY 09-10-2012 10:15 PM

I agree with Maverick, I have known Mike since 1997.

Thanks guys, thats just what I needed to hear. Its a done deal. My dad ended up flying down to him to pick up the drive and said Mike was a great guy to deal with.

It's great to see one of these threads turn up something positive. There needs to be more of this stuff posted.

This is great but you should also pass it on in dealing with him to everyone who will listen...that he was and is a stand up guy with no issues of any kind. It will help him and you.

im happy to see this thread, am going to buy some transoms from mike this friday or next, have talked to him for over a month now and hes always called me back and is a great guy, i was a little sketched out at first too, but after dealing with him he sounds to be a pretty stand up guy

MER Performance 09-19-2012 08:05 AM

I purchased 2 transom assy from Mike, back in the summer. They were exactly as stated at a fair price. I have known Mike since he was at Dollar Marine. Nothing against Mike, but I would arrange my own shipping. His freight cost were a little high, I used my own carrier.

dykstra 09-27-2012 12:41 PM

I purchased an outdrive from him 3 years ago and he was a pleasure to deal with.

I live in Delray (next to Boynton) as well as the fact that I bought my transom assemblies from him too. Good guy. Easy to deal with.

Mange 02-18-2014 04:49 PM

I had some k-planes from Mike last year! Great guy! :)

Liquid Addiction 09-10-2014 11:40 AM

Just saw this post as well and I am trying to buy my transom assemblies from him. I was a bit sketched out too. From the comments I think I will give him a shot.

verbi69 09-14-2014 03:14 PM

I bought a new XR drive from him last year, a little slower to package and ship than I would have liked but all in all no complaints.

88Fountain 09-15-2014 05:29 AM

Bought two HP transom assemblies from him last year, no problems.

Fasttoys1 09-15-2014 05:07 PM

I will be buying a ransom assembly from him soon. I was referred by an OSO member.

Liquid Addiction 09-24-2014 11:57 AM

I just received my (2) Transom Assemblies yesterday from Mike Wood at Coastal Marine Export. This guy is legit! No issues what so ever!

Team Archer 09-26-2014 03:06 PM

Bought lots from Mike never an issue GREAT GUY !!!!

PurdueCAT 11-06-2014 12:58 PM

Tried to buy a lower gearset from him off if ebay but he said the parts got damaged? He still has them listed on here in the classifieds. Seemed weird to me but sounds like you all have had good luck...

Liquid Addiction 11-10-2014 06:23 AM

I received both transom assemblies in good order. We spoke several times on the phone and Mike came through with all he promised.

We received a replacement gear set from the manufacturer that was damaged in transit and sent you a pm via Ebay to
notify you of this. If you would like to still purchase it please contact us at [email protected].

I went ahead and got a complete lower. When I was shopping on ebay I just assumed that the parts I was bidding on, were on hand, not at a supplier. Obvious mistake on my end. Not sure why you didn't offer to send me a replacement set for the ones that got damaged though?

cigrocket 11-12-2014 09:40 AM

Mike has been great to deal with, and I am happy with his response to emails and detailed explanations of his inventory. No Complaints, I am sure I will do business with him again in the near future

AllDodge 11-16-2014 01:04 PM

Bought 2 transom assemblies and first no issue, second came in with a broken anode (not packaged correctly). Was sent another anode but the cable was cut in two. Guessing it was taken off another transom assembly and who ever removed it did not want to disassemble the connector to take it out. Mike answers every question so long as it has nothing to do with missing packing, open box or missing serial numbers on equipment. Still thinking of buying a B3XR drive (best prices I've seen) but only hesitation is if I need warranty work, will it come from Merc, or will I be sent parts removed from another drive to repair. Called Merc and was told if there is no serial number they will not warrant, not that Merc stands behind there warranty like they use to.

I ordered two trim pumps a year or so ago and got exactly what I ordered and on time.

BUP 12-08-2014 08:27 PM

Just asking so did they change their name to Sea Level Marine Group ? What happened to Coastal Marine Export ?

bwd 12-09-2014 04:38 AM

Mike supplied most of the Merc stuff when we built the Phantom. We still use him on a regular basis and recommend him. We always get what we expect at a very competitive price. He is very good at sending you a quick quote by email. Brian

BUP 12-09-2014 12:00 PM

Thanks and I was asking because the same name Mike W. is the same name listed for Sea level Marine. Did not know if the name was changed from CME to SLM or I guess you have 2 marine businesses. That's it.

the deep 12-09-2014 02:16 PM

With the stellar reputation you and your company have I would ask the mods to remove the company name from the Beware and Stolen section . I don't like to see you associated with the dirtbags listed in here , not fair to you at all . This was posted 9/10/12 with zero negative comments . You need to be celebrated on OSO as a great company !

AllDodge 12-09-2014 02:45 PM

I'll agree with, Mike's OK, no need to be here

I bought a HP Gimbal, an XR Sportmaster and other assorted parts from him and he has been strait up legit with me for several years and cheaper than anyone else. I live in Oklahoma and was in the market for parts and I had the same concerns as you but there was no way I could buy from a local business.......no market here. I found Mike and Coastal Marine Export online and spoke with him several times on the phone. He told me that he had worked for directly for Mercury Marine and had spent time in Stillwater and Oklahoma City before he ventured out on his own. He works out of his house in Boca and provides his home address and he shares a warehouse in Miami. I have family in south Florida and was able to verify what he was telling me and I'm glad I found him. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend him.

hotrodford 03-03-2016 10:05 AM
