Gil sea strainers/need parts
#1
I have 2 of the old style, round Gil sea strainers that have the top lid held on by a knob/stud and a v-band clamp. The bottom 3/8" of the stud has been corroded by salt, so I'm looking for a source for the knob/stud. The stud is 3/8" course thread on the last 3/4" or so, and it has a groove in it for a "c" clip. The stud is 4" long. I tried McMaster-Carr with no luck. Any ideas on where to find these parts?

Good idea. Did you have the groove cut into it for the c-clip? I found threaded knobs @ McMaster Carr that could be used if you cut off the head of the bolt and had that end threaded and screwed it into the knob, thus replacing the entire original unit. I think I just talked myself into the solution. Did you ever try to remove the original stud from the knob? I would think that it is threaded into it and held with locktite. Maybe I can save the knob. Thanks for your idea/help

I threw away the C-clip because it's just easy enough without it. Never tried to remove the knob but curious to know if it has a threaded end. If it does I would just use stainless threaded stock and cut to length.
