Wellcraft nova II wanted

Anyone no of where I can find a nice stock condition eighties nova twin 26ft.

DiamondPerformance 12-12-2009 11:39 AM

Call Bob in Maryland (443-350-0713) he has the nicest Nova you will find and it is for sale.

tpivega 12-14-2009 11:20 AM

Do you know what year this nova is, before I call him. Do you know if it is stock condition by any chance.
Thanks
D

DiamondPerformance 12-14-2009 12:50 PM

I think it is late 80's early 90's. He will sell it without engines. He took the engines out and put them in his other boat.

Wellcraft Nova II

I've got one with stock 260's/Alpha drives, hasn't seen the water in about a year and a half. Its a repaint though, not original gel.

My buddy has one w/ 454's. Red paint, looks great. He has been working out all the bugs. its pretty much turn key cond. now.
oh ya, its a 1991.

tpivega 12-14-2009 10:36 PM

Thanks , but I really want one with engines, turn key unmollested. tall windshield and teak surround, I even like the 84 scarab 300 II side by side hatches, teak surround,

spazboz 12-15-2009 12:35 AM

I didn't think about it in my first post, but a friend of mine's son has a real nice clean one for sale. 1987 I believe. Its real clean. If your interested in his, I'll find you a phone number.

tpivega 12-16-2009 09:44 PM

Yes if you could send me a number or info picture of it that would be great.

tpivega, here is a link to the ad Alex just posted. I guess his boat is an 83'. I thought it was newer.

Looks like it's been modified quite a bit with bolsters and a Spyder windshield, thru-hull, added cup holders in the cockpit too. Unless it's an early Spyder, but I thought they weren't released until '87. The cockpit does have the side teak which I think the Spyders don't have.

jtmarten 12-30-2009 10:01 AM

Don't know if it is still available:
http://www.boatcan.com/showboat.php?ad=1162573153

Was for sale when I bought my Nova II in April 09, they were previously asking $20K for it, looks like its down to $16K, still too high. I bought mine, absolutely unmolested, nearly mint condition for $10K.

tpivega 12-30-2009 11:13 PM

Thanks for the info on that nova for 16k, I have seen that one many times during my search, and looks unmolested, but price is a little high. I guess I'll just wait tell one comes up for sale, its a waiting game

Looks more like a Nova III, but may be a later model II?

LaughingCat 01-10-2010 08:48 PM

My father has a Nova Spyder for sale. Need TLC. Engines are 260's from 1997.Boat is basically stock, except from to repower in 1998 and repainted hull from battleship grey to white.

Would be a good fixer-upper. Hull is in great shape. Let me know if interested.

boat is in storage right now surrounded by cars and campers. I'll try and get some this weekend. Boat sat in storage for eight years. I'm the third owner, my dad had it for twenty years. Call with any questions. 231-206-6128. Thanks Jason

Thanks Jason lt me know if you get the pics, I am only interested in the novas with the teak window suround, like the the one posted in this thread.

spazboz 01-15-2010 06:41 PM

Out of curiosity, what is it about the teak surround on the glass? I've had two people interested in my boat, and when they found out it doesn't have the teak on the windshield, it was a complete deal breaker. How hard would it be to put on, and what would it cost? Its like I might as well scrap the boat because of a windshield option!

areyouliving 01-15-2010 07:01 PM

I had it it on my Scarab 300. It was one of the first thing I took off. I'm glad I saved it, might need to put it back on when it comes time to sell it. geez who woulda thought??

jbraun2828 01-17-2010 07:10 PM

No teak on my windshield. Never seen it before until the pic in this thread. These boats have enough teak to take care of without the windshield

jtmarten 01-21-2010 02:55 PM

Just out of curiosity for those that do not have the teak windshield trim. Is your model then considered the Spyder? Do you have the short windshield, or the standard height windshield, just no teak?
Thanks!

I agree... we had it on our Nova, and we still have it on our 93 377 scarab. I can't stand it, and it would be the first thing I would change about the boat if I could find a simple way of doing it.

BUGSY 01-21-2010 04:54 PM

spyder

i have a 1985 nova spyder, it has the teak around the windshield, with stand up bolster seats

I'm surprised they were still putting it on in '93

My fault... I "fat fingered" that one... The boat is an 83, not a 93... My bad! Ha, thanks for clearing up the confusion though...

hotjava66 01-21-2010 08:32 PM

if you are still looking i think my dads old 85 Nova 2 might be for sale. it had the teak around the windshield, teak interior wood, and teak swim platform. i can check with the guy that has it now, not sure on condtion anymore though, havent seen it up close in 15 years.

Post some pics; I thought the Spyder wasn't released until '87, and all had the short windshield without teak. The bolster seats were an option for the Nova II's also.

They're tough to find in nice, unmolested condition. I drove to Detroit from Colorado Springs for mine last Spring. Long drive, but worth it.

Very nice looking boat! Was it an actual Spyder, or a pre-version of it? I thought the Spyder wasn't released until '87. It does have the Spyder's black cabinetry.

spyder

i was the second owner, had spyder engraved on hatchway, i have the original 1985 wellcraft performance catalogue & it also came with 300hp tempest engines.
also book doesn't say anything about bolster seats ??"

I have a scan of the original '86 spec sheet and it shows bolsters were available as an option.
What was your speed with the 300's? I'm thinking next year I'll freshen the twins and bring them up to about 350hp.
Any place you know of where I could get an '86 catalog? I found one on ebay a while back, but it showed the Spyder and no Nova II, so I think it was really an '87 catalog.

BUGSY 02-08-2010 05:39 AM

Mine Had 350's Could Run Hard All Day.
I'll Look In My Old Stuff To See If I Have A 1986 Brochure.
