You don't need the extra reservoir. Just make sure the reservoir on the pump is where it should be and you'll be fine.

it is working fine without it, the problem is that if the motor is not running and you turn the wheel the pump reservoire over flows. not a issue to me personally but i have kids that like to turn the wheel when we are sitting there. i already have a latham reservoire laying around too. pesky kids lol
