Not knocking the book in any way but isn't mid '90's technology outdated?is there anything more recent out there?

Dennis moore's book is the one I'm after. But mostly because I'm told he goes into detail about using the 454 l-29. From what I know that head wasn't introduced until the 98 maybe 96 at the latest. So uh.. Could some one help out? Does the book mention that head at all? I've read mixed reviews on the book itself.
