outboard jack plate

any one have a manual outboard jack plate laying around they dont need? need one for my Cougar Cub for a 40hp mercury. dont need anything fancy just trying to raise the engine as I have a 20" outboard and they were built for a 15" shaft.

I built one for a 13’ Whaler I had w/a 50 hp motor on it.

I bought a 4’ stick of, I think, 4” alum angle and cut it into to 4 equal pcs.

Takes some time figuring out dimensions but worked perfect and only added a few lbs!

Easy way would be to bolt two sections to the motor board, other two to motor then hang it at height you want and mark all 4 pcs for bolt hole location.

I thought about doing that but was trying to be lazy if someone had one laying around they didnt need, then I would just have to drill a few holes. the bad part is that 4" aluminum would be the heaviest part of the boat but unfortunately 15" shaft 40hp motors are hard to find and I only paid $100 for a good running one. so have to do what I have to do to make it work.

Understood.

Used manual plates are cheap but most are for 6’s and will be heavy.

You will want/need trim on that hull and you won’t find that on a 15” motor anyhow.

Small OB hills are turds w/o trim.

The 13’ Whaler I did was only a couple MPH’s faster w/a 50 w/no than it was w/a 28.

When I added trim, it was 20 MPH faster!
