Default Warlock 31 ft SXT cat 1995

Hey guys, now I have a real problem. I have a deal to purchase a 1995 SXT Cat - 31 ft with trailer for $27K. It has two Paul Phaff 502's putting out dynoed 596 and 606 hp. Just had the top ends completely redone too. This boat is so clean you can shave off the reflection of the gel coat! I have only owned two boats before this - a 18 ft and a 24 ft Yamaha with their biggest jet ski motors. The 24 was boring, the 18 a huge blast - did 360's and 180's in it. But, at Lake Tahoe, got the snot beat out of me when the wind came up. Problem is, I just had a guy who is supposedly knowedgable tell me this is the wrong boat for me - that I can get killed in it. It doesn't help with pictures of the boat jumping waves in the ocean! 15 ft or so off the water. It has 3 ft tabs out back and this guy told me that was because this boat has a problem stying in the water!!! Now, I have aged a bit since the 18 ft yamaha 10 yrs ago - but I do like POWER and don't want to be bored... Should I go for the 2001 Warlock world class 29 with a 496 and 199 hrs or this monster, killer, bad ass 31 ft SXT cat with 150 hrs? I would post pictures of this boat but do not know how...... some one pm me and I will send them pics they can post.

This same guy told me that if I blew a motor at 100 unless I knew exactly what I was to do it would cartwheel. I think I would steer into the direction of the blown motor while shutting down the other motor.... I admit Ihave NO experience in big boats - any boat over 60mph. But hey, I owned a C6 Z06 with a couple of upgrades with 540 HP and it weighed 3050 lbs. Put 60,000 mile on it most with my foot to the floor while rowing the gears. Never got in trouble once, no uncontrolled slides - no slides in fact - tires cost $450 ea - no tickets either. Is this too much boat? Like the previous reply to my post, you need to know when to shut down!

IMO its your personal choice. I'm partial to the 29' World Class but thats just because we've bought ours new in 2000 and absolutely love it. We have a stock 500EFI in it. On a good day we run 77 light on fuel, two people in the boat. The boat loves 2-4 footers, it never misses a beat. As for the 496, if your looking for more power to make her run faster, i know there is a few simple quick upgrades that can give you more HP. As for the cat cartwheeling if you blow a motor, Ive never heard of that happening before. Ive been around the racing circuit since 94 and Ive seen the cats blow motors at over 100 and never have seen one cartwheel. Thats all from my personal experience. I dont think you can go wrong on either boat though

Hey Rick

Are you married? If so wifey will know what you should do

The V bottom is going to lose 5-10 mph on the lake after rejetting..you may know more about that than I if you have been boating there for awhile...was about 1995 for me since I was there...one of the last races held on the lake (patrol boat for me).

If you wanna go fast buy the Cat!

I don't think the '95 31 technology and bottom was radical enough to worry about blowing yourself up.........

Default I am going for it! 31 SXT CAT!

OK, I talked to the owner and the guy that told me I am not experienced enough does not know me. I flew a plane at 15 yrs old and did great too...! I am pushing 60 yrs old and still ride big bore dirt bikes. I have an eye for what is going on around me, always have. I also have a sense of being careful and learning about things before I push it. Like jumping wakes. You start by just driving over one real easy, next time a little faster, after you ufeel real comfortable you hit the throttle some at the top and see if you can get a little air....!

Its a done deal! I am buying it! The owner of this boat worked at Paul Phaff's as the customer service manager and is a personal friend of the owner of Warlock boats. I will be picking up the boat as soon as the trailer has the brakes completed after a long test drive to learn about the boat. The owner has been very informative and extremely reasonable. This boat is loaded to the gills - stelling 12 in set-back adjustable stand off boxes, bravo drives with 1:36 ratio, 4, 5 inch Imco through hull polished mufflers, boxes with upgraded shafts in the drives, full hydraulic steering, extra props, you name it it has it. Thank god I am close to Calif where it can warm up at times. two weeks ago here in Reno NV the high was 8 degrees!

anyone know how to drain the water from this thing so I do not freeze it solid and crack the blocks? 1995 502 MPIs I will be looking for every oppourtunity to use it when Sacramento/Vegas warms up so I don't need to fog the engine - I will add fuel stabilizer to the fuel and run it through when I test drive it.

Any comments from you folks will be greatly appreciated!

Rick

Default Thanks!

2 fast warlock, thanks for your input! I really wanted a world class, but this boat seemed such a great deal. You are right about loosing 10 to 15 mph here at 6500 ft elevation! With the other props the owner says this should hit 92 mph at 5600 rpm. V 28 - I am married, but am fortunate that my wife lets me do as I please... My sons give me more grief than my wife!

Come up here some time and lets have a warlock party!

Default 31 sxt

I have the 25 sxt with a 454 and believe it or not I am currently running a blackhawk drive on it. The props on it are a 28 and it runs out around 88 mph at 5900 rpm.
I also have a 1989 warlock 23 euro with a 468 solid roller motor. With the 23p mirage it runs 97 on gps at 6900 rpm.
They are both incredible boats and would not steer anyone away from buying one. Good choice on the 31. I think that will be the next addition to my so called collection.
