I think the 31" SXT did a good job finding the happy point in freeboard height. If you want I can probably get some measurements which still allows the bolsters and cabin, but maintains the sleek squat while in the water.

That would be great to compare the 31 measurements against this 38.
There is a 2000 36' listed for sale on several sites I've used for visual comparison. I'm guessing the never produced late model 38 would have been basically that same boat. STX style cockpit lines, driver and passenger bolster with a rear bench and a nice cuddy area.
This 92 tri-haul design with the raised center front deck actually has about 5' head room in most of the cuddy. But then they raised what should be the forward berth area up a couple feet and it's barely tall enough to slide into. Would love to know the history behind this boat. She is a TPI stamped VIN which verifies the Team build, not Ultimate like my 210.

There was a monster plug in the back of the shop that was built to make a prototype with surface drives to be sold to the military (about 1994). Had a different top with enclosed canopy and windows (from memory!). The race boat had a similar top/canopy which I have a calendar photo of. Perhaps the bottom came from the mold associated with that plug?
There were three 31 sport decks made- apparently the first at the request of a local (Barry) whose brief youtube video can be found here....http://youtu.be/EZdq***Br2U
Not sure if that provides inspiration or if you are going to modify the deck from what you posted above..but I've always liked that look.
The cabin is "shrunk" on that design...which may raise hell with the porta-potty scenario .

Thanks man, sounds like its probably related to that plug. Couldn't load that video link.Funny you mentioned that military design, it will most likely be equipped with surface drives on this build.
According to what Libertarian had found, this was possibly one of two boats built for Circus Circus,.A race setup with the full canopy, and this one for the owners personal use. But he was also told this had tripp's from the factory. I can't see where the transom was patched and the controls, gauges, and trim stuff all points to twins. I've found one old photo of a twin turbo engine in a Team Warlock race boat from like 94, that's it. Would love to see the photo you have.
Any idea who has the haul records from 92?
Far as styling lines go, that wedge cockpit was defiantly pushing the design envelope. I've wire-lined some sketches off these photos, and it looks a little better with a windscreen [ which I have all the factory pieces].. Also done a couple drawings with a windowed canopy, arch / wing, and one cut down about 8 inches. According to the wife, its getting a head installed... That might have to go between the engines... lol.

P.S. did they epoxy the deck to the haul back then? It's bolt every couple feet, then glassed inside.

Sorry about that link...try this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZdq***Br2U (or search for one tight u turn)
Not sure who would have any records- not aware of any epoxy being used..but just my opinion/experience. I remember reading about the Circus Circus story in a previous thread/ad- or maybe a different boat.
Here is Predator in two pieces- too big for the scanner- 1994 California Hotboat calendar. Nigel Hook is on the flipside in a 25 Warlock cat with twin outboards . I have a lot of original/promotional photos- but all V bottom stuff of my hull...

Great photo 28V. Double stepped in the same positions. Could be sister from that standpont.. That race boat was a 31 ya say?
Helps on the bonding question too. Since she is down this far, I'm considering popping it apart to speed the restoration process. Would love to flip her over and do a proper bottom job, just weighing all the options.
Thanks for all the videos. Believe I saw TahoeRicks is in that group. All the 31 or 36's I've found seem to share that pointed center bow, where this 38 is straight edge with the outer sponson deck tips rising high then rolling down and inward onto the deck. This just leads to more and more questions. Can't be the only one of these things out there.
