Question Brian Hollis

I may be lookling to put headers on my 25' WC. It has a 454 Mag. MPI, still stock. What manufacturer would you recomend for that application? And if you carry it, how much? I would also be interested in adding hydraulic steering, preferrably Latham. Thanks in advance!

Tom:

I would reccomend GIL Exhaust( save approx 100 lbs in weight - gain 10% in hp) and Marine Machine steering. We are a dealer for both. I will have you some prices tomorrow. I can help you with propping the boat also , we have over 25 lab finished props in stock.

Cool B.H.

I'm currently running a bravo 26 4bl. It's new, and polished, doubt it's been labbed tho... Bravo 1 1.5 gear. I've had the boat up to, and over 74 on GPS, but not consistantly. My rpms average around 4500 to 4800, and it spiked @ 5100 on the 2 runs I've had over 70+. The boat has less than 50hrs total, and Ron has said that the hull needs to be "wet" for a while before it gets right. The steering is loose at best, factory cable setup... I figure that with headers, and possibly a labbed 26, I could maybe attain low 80's on a consistant basis. Any thoughts?

As far as the Bahama run... You can post it in the APC section on the board and see what kind of feedback you get, and I can post on the homepage. I'll need the details when you get a chance.

Where exactly on Lanier is your shop located? I'd like to stop by sometime.

Thanks for all your help!
Tom

Hey Red,

I can get you STAINLESS MARINE EXHAUST for a fraction of the cost of the Gils. Less weight and more power. Call me.

Not to bust anyone's balls, but I read where the gil exhaust caused water reversion on the HP500. True or not for the 454 mag I don't know. Mercury use to use Gil with the carbed Hp500 and stopped. Just food for thought. Red you could do a search about the gil. Brian- again not busting balls, but just informing a friend of a possible problem.

Cool Gig...

We can discuss this tonite during intermission. That way I can detail out what I'm looking to do, get some idea of price/time involved, and go from there. Kinda like you and the 35', I'm just shopping around...
