It’s all relative. The large scale fruit production in FL was pure boot camp!
Long season of 7 day work weeks, overnight frost protection, enforcing food safety standards and putting a quality pack of fruit into picky chain stores with a labor force that cared about neither. My wife used to tell her friends I had a 100k annual loss threshold for losing money just to get away! She wasn’t lying, it took years to get back even.

Given this is pretty much the only regional thread on the forum with any life in it, I vote we keep posting all the random crap we want 🤪.

Nwfreerider and I got a couple dirt bike rides in this fall, best one being the Batey Bould system north of Newport. I set to work fixing the bent sled for the upcoming winter, and we attended a local kick off party for the snow season. Spent a lot of time closing up houses for the winter, and I made the transition to Wisconsin for a couple months, will be back when there is enough snow to ride!

Just like summer only different lol.
Actually above average snow in the mountains but zero in the valley.

A summer full of hurricanes doesn’t help either. But I did get to gauge the storm surge effect. Half mile up the inlet had the same surge height as the beach but no destructive force just high water. Our floor is 11’ and we were within 4’ of flooding. Our mailbox at street level had water right at the bottom of the box which is a freaky sight. Neighbor has older construction and had water in his house 4 times last summer.
But north Idaho is calm and has clean fresh water for F2 so come on out some summer.

Looks like the Fun run is off again this year, so pretty much dead officially. Which is a shame, I thought it was a great get together and brought in a lot of fun boats and people. We have been chatting a bit and looking for a date where we can all get together and do something informal like last year. Maybe late June, or August. My schedule is a *****.

In the mean time, we have all been playing with the boats and getting them ready. I refreshed the top wrap, made some engine bay modifications last week. Still have a good list of stuff to address when I am back but hopefully I won't be putting two engines in it this year and will have a little more time to do the small stuff 🤪

New wrap on the deck

I might come back a couple weeks early here. Being in WI with absolutely nothing to do is depressing as ****. Missed a killer end of the sled season, missed the Desert 100 with my buds, missing sweeping for the river races. Gonna do some camping this weekend and will hopefully feel a bit better about it all. Definitely want to get the boat buttoned up and do some testing, maybe rope Hoodoo 2.0 into coming and running the Saint Joe or CDA rivers one nice afternoon while we all wait for Pend Oreille to come back up.

Camping weekend
