More stereo work

I'm finally making some progress on this install. Been busy with other stuff. I've only got 2 flush panels to make and it'll be done and ready for the water. I powered it up last night and tuned it in for the first time. All I can say is WOW! The 4 Wet Sounds XS-650's are new, the 4 JL 10W0's are new, and the Kenwood sub amp are new. The boat originally had 10 Kenwood 6.5's, 2 4-channel kenwood Excelon amps, and 1 10" Excelon woofer. I also added 2 Stinger SP1500D sealed batteries.

Here's what I ended up with:

*1 4-channel, bridged to 2-channel mono powering the tower speakers
*1 4-channel: 2 channels are powering the 4 6.5's in the cockpit at 2 ohm stereo, and the other 2 channels are powering the 2 6.5's in the bow.
*1 Mono Kenwood Excelon amp powering 4 JL10W0-8's at 2 ohm mono.

Also added a Wet Sounds WS-420 eq/pre-amp
All of this is on the stock Kenwood Marine headunit. I only kept this because the helm station inserts are built around 1 remote, and another remote is on the transom.

There aren't any pics of the 2 10's under the helm, but they're in there and I still need to cut out a flush panel for them. Under the console where the amps are, I'll have a cover for the batteries that'll conceal them, and the second woofer box will sit on top of that. With this set-up I'll gain almost all of the storage space back under that console. Big enough for a full-size cooler.

I'll post updates once it's all done. Hopefully that'll be later this week.

Only 2 batteries. They're in the console instead of the bilge, which is really handy. I'll work on that stripper pole

I can be available if you need me again this year, Mitch. Since I've got a slowboat it would be nice to stay on the Dam side of the lake, but whatever's good for you.

Yeah I know!! We are really hard on everyone right now trying to get them to commit....Keep telling them to save some gas money and then run the p--s out of them in June!! Really looking forward to it!!

jonyb 04-03-2008 01:51 AM

Thanks Jeff!!

Robby how many people do you think will come down this year? You had about 5-6 boats last year, didn't you?

speedreeder 04-05-2008 12:05 AM

Yeah, We're trying to get about 6-8 boats down there for the poker run. Like always you just have a few people that drag their feet (I'm usually one of them), But we are only doing a couple boat trips this year. I'm gonna make KY. Lake and Cumber. this tear, And of course Golconda end of the year!! We are still not ruling out memorial day.? Hope to see ya soon.

Mama, Is that your sunsation in your avatar? I finished work on a '05 innovator last year and there could be a chance i could bring it down for the poker run. It is for sale $110, Has some cool custom paint!!!!! Anyway I would be really interested in taking a look at your boat. I really like the looks of the sunny's and after the innovator work, I had to deal with the factory on some parts and everyone there was SUPER anytime I called for parts.

jonyb 04-05-2008 07:29 AM

Finished up the first console last night. Still need to cut out the flush panel for the woofer box under the helm. No space was lost under the helm, and a bunch of space was gained under the other side.

No, it belongs to Hill-Top Marine in Bronson Ky. He brought it down for the Poker Run last year. It was one of the new SS's, Sun came out with last year. He's going to bring one of the new 28SS this year.

Sure don't buddy. You can check www.boardersmall.com. Sometimes they have some standard empty cans for cheap. I re-used mine because of the tight fit with the cargo rack/bimini.

Yesterday the level was 365.3 and the water was about 20' from the front porch. I was told Barry and Sally had to move theirs. Some of the other guys at our place are pulling out but I think we'll be okay. It's only projected to hit 365.6 on Tuesday. We'll be safe until 367.
