Default Engine alarm problem.

I have a 99 Heat, with a 502 MPI. The boat has the memory gauges with the Nordic symbol on them. The water temperature gauge did not work, so I replaced the sender and gauge with a Liverosi. I wired the guage per Nordic, the power came form the purple wire on the ignition, grounded to the fuse panel, ran a new wire back to the sender, and jumped the light from the nav light switch (green wire). The engine alarm keeps going off. The trim resevoir is full, oil pressure in good and water temp is 150-160. I tired unplugging the wires for the trim resevoir, water temp sensor and the oil pressure sender, with no luck still making the god awful noise. I noticed that the alarm had a piece of paper towel duct taped to it to quite it down I am stumped and actually pissed. I think the previous owner had the problem and jerry rigged it to quite it down. I just bougth the boat a couple weeks ago and it is already giving me fits. Anyone have any ideas???????

Thanks

Thanks,

Nordic uses a standard Merc harness and somewhere between the engine and the dash they have their own creative wiring for all the gauges and the other goodies. The wiring I choose was what the factory recommended that I do. I don't know why they didn't use standard Merc wiring for everything????

The gauge should not have anything to do with the alarm. The gauge sending unit is seperate from the ect sensor. Do a search, I remember someone talking about making a tool to ck for faults in the ecm. Dwight
