496HO Alarm Problem Fixed
Posted a while back asking if anyone had ever experienced a two beep alarm at approximately 1 minute intervals. Got no responses. Well, it was finally diagnosed as a bad oil pressure sensor. The error code was forcing the engine into a 90% power mode, thus the alarm. A new sensor was installed on Friday and she ran alarm free yesterday just in time for the long weekend.
But I have a question for you guys since this is my first twin engine boat. The same engine is still running 100 rpm less. It has from day one (35 hours ago) even before the alarm issue. In cool dry air yesterday I got 4950 on the starboard engine and 4850 on the port. Is this normal and acceptable?
