Default 500 EFI oil temp sensor placement

I have a 99 Checkmate ZT 280 with a 500 efi. I am installing a oil temp gauge and sensor. Is there any place on the engine that merc planed for the sensor to be mounted. There is no where to put in in the remote oil filter bracket. I would perfer to put the sensor in the pan, but without a prepared hole it is not going to happen with the engine in the boat. By the way, this is the only boat with a blue motor that I have ever seen that did not have a oil temp guage from the factory.

Thanks for your help.

MM

My 502 oil pans have a threaded hole and a plug in them on the left side of the engine.

Searched again yesterday with no luck. I am going to try to buy a filter head that is ready to accept an 1/8" NPT sensor.
