Ignition supervision
Do you know if there are any good ways /instruments to supervise the performance of the ignition. Preferrably an instrument that shows the percentage of missed sparks during the last second or something similar. Technically it should be fairly simple to design such an instrument and I think it would be useful.

Other than the data aquisition systems the CART, IRL, F-1, Top Fuel and Funny Car teams use, I don't know of anything else out there.
I would be cheaper to purchase a "canned" system than to try and design your own software and search out the proper sensors and recording devices.

use a Digital Storage Oscilloscope with a record feature. The car oem's use a massively complicated computer program to monitor crankshaft speed variations to calculate mis fires. Not a simple thing to design and manufacture by a long shot.

the plug will show that...we have a data acquisition system on our F2 boat...the up-coming issue of Extreme Boats Mag will also show how to use this great tool...you could use it for this but the plugs would be the best/quickest indication...
simple....not really...yes at idle but not at wot...
