Whipple or AS&M
I am going to add some HP before summer,I am in a toss up between the AS&M manifold kit,and the Whipple supercharger,I want to keep it reliable as I can but gain MPH.The price for the man. kit is 4000$ and the whipple kit is around 6300$. I want some feedback on both systems if I could find somebody with one or both of these systems. I want the why's and why not's for both systems, I heard that you have to make a lot of brackets and relocate some things for the AS&M man. kit is this true or not, How much boost would you run?How hard to install? How long will the moter last. Thankx,TOM

Whipple hands down.
I've heard too many bad stories about ASM ECM reprogramming jobs. And there is NO WAY that ANY manifold change is going to give you the kick you are looking for. On the flipside, there is no conceivable way you could ever be disappointed in a complete turnkey Whipple kit.
If you are honest about what grade of fuel you plan to run in the boat and consult whipple on the proper setup for that fuel, you will have no problems with reliability. Just plan to observe all of the proper lube change intervals (which will be shorter than what Merc recommends, Whipple will tell you these parameters as well). There is no better engineered kit available than a Whipple. If you don't want to do a bunch of test and tune yourself, then Whipple is the best show around.
The only disappointing part of it is that you will blow up your outdrive every other week with the Whipple's torque.

AS&M manifold kit is a nice piece and with head work or new heads and throttlebody it will add some ponies, but it does require a lot of relocation of almost everything on top or the sides of the stock manifold including the factory ECM and wiring.
