It's a free benefit. Swapping the firing order evens out the load on the cam so that lifters are being pushed on opposite sides reducing core deflection. No performance gain at all, just less stress on the cam core and longer life with aggressive profiles and spring pressures

Do they sound any different with the 18726543 firing order?

Mine does not sound nearly as nasty as my previous cams. But, that also might be the grind. I really miss the crack of my old cams they were just raw. But, I didn't change cams for sound

Bob is correct. 4150 based 950HP Holley carb. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hl...96-1/overview/ Works extremely well on the 502 motor. Mine started life as the carb listed, but modified. Now flow (flow tested) 1000cfm.

A pro systems carb with billet base plate and wet flow sheet setup for your app is only $20 more.

This is a great thread and have subscribed. I talked to Bob about doing this exact thing earlier this spring, but due to other issues wasn't in the budget so it's gotten pushed back to this fall. Great numbers with reliability. Thanks for sharing all this information.

Good information. Note that my previous post was not intended for marketing value, but merely a product reference point.

I have a 18726543 cam as well and it has a bit of snarl to it and a decent idle for a 228/[email protected] with .600 lift. I did alot of reading and it looks like it reduces the stress on the crank and may add a little bit of power at higher rpm's.... Kaase has some data on his Ford engines and has made really good power with those type cams. Also, the new GM LS Engines also use the 18726543 firing order and they started with a clean slate for that engine design and they must have had a good reason for doing so??
