It is 383 stroker build from a 1998 350 marine engine.

mike tkach is correct. The 1986 and newer 350's are externally balanced on the flywheel and with a neutral harmonic balancer.

As my old flywheel is junk, I want to buy the cheap 350 Zoom aftermarket one and let Scat balance the whole assembly.

I asked Scat already, but no reply so far.

I hear you. Its funny how Merc list the flywheel in the parts as its listed 1982 - 1986 showing 3 flywheels with 3 different part #s. They list the 12 3/4 and the 14 and another 14.

Anyways you are correct about the flywheel as I thought it was in 1984 for the persay external balance flywheel. As it looks like mid year 1985 was the change from GM for the flywheel.
