All of you guys seem to know what you are talking about, but it depends on what year 29 you have. Or is it a single or twins. My 29 cruises as you guys stated best around 3 on both drives and tabs. For top end I set the tabs at 3.3 (3.0 being level) and then run to top speed at about 5.6, then punch the tabs up to 3.0 where I have stops set. Boat runs 93 MPH. It is a 95 with twin 502s 575 HP. Later 29s have higher x-diminsion therefore not needing as much trim to obtain top speed. Rough water tabs at 3.5-4.0 and drives level at 3.0 level. I know everybody does this but I like to straight edge the trim and tabs and mark the indicators with a dot so you will always know where level is.
