I had a 280 with a stock 454 mag and a 24 pitch Bravo 4 blade prop. When I was lightly loaded it was fine but with a full tank of fuel, gear, and 6 people it would struggle to plane. I put a 22 pitch Bravo 4 blade prop on it to spin a bit quicker and she popped right out of the hole. Much better throttle response too. Lost a bit on top end but it was worth it.

The 280 does encounter some prop blow out when coming on plane but soon goes away and hooks up well. The 280's had a slightly higher drive for better performance.
Solid boat no doubt.
