This thread went downhill fast. Now everyone just wants to insist that the bad advice is not bad advice. The diagram of how a two stroke pipe works is cool though. I love that surge of power when a 2-stroke hits the pipe.

Bad advice: Paint checkerboards or cartoon characters all over your boat.

A well thought out 2 stroke over 200 or so cc's should not hit hard on the pipe. The kids love it when there quad/dirtbike "hits the pipe" as it feels fast. In reaqlity those peaky motors get waxed by nice linear power curves. There is a lot more to modern 2 strokes technology than grinding the exh. port 2.5mm higher and milling the head to get the compression back.

For valve springs, I recommend you set them up with around 115psi on the seat if you're running an aggressive hydraulic roller. It really helps when you get over 5000rpm to keep the valves bouncing off the seat like pogo sticks.
