Looking forward to getting mine soon. Gotta get going on it. Rik has supplied quite a few sets around our area. Everyone loves the whole package.

..? So the Arnesons are responsible for the performance of a boat with a different power supply in your comparison? Sorry but that's not what this thread is about..

725 Ilmor's & 700 Merc's are not exact but pretty equal. With the claims you make the Arenson boat should have been faster, no? I was just asking a simple question on why it didn't seem to work as well on the Fountain. Could be many reasons, sorry for wanting to be more knowledgeable about your product. No reason to be a d*ck about it!

Sunsation built an Ilmor F4 and despite 50 extra HP.......a Merc 700 boat was faster. They probably built 18 F4's, the other 17 were all Mercury powered (1 662, 1 1075, the rest 700 sci)

Yeah, it seems to happen a lot on here... I guess I better switch to #6 drives! (after having Bravo's, SC's, SCX's and Arnesons, there's not much left to try).

In all seriousness, it's not like I would have ever considered #6 drives on my boat for an alleged "couple mph faster" over Arnesons. I think we all know that 2mph (or even 10mph) can be the wrong trim, wrong props, wrong conditions/waves/current direction, incorrect setup (tie bar to far in/out, wrong x dimension, etc...), or any other host of reasons.

Besides the upfront cost of 6's being far higher, and maintenance on 6's is more frequent (and expensive) due to the use of bevel gears. 6's are also heavier (by hundreds of lbs)... which would be a huge issue on my boat.

This is the first I have EVER heard of this! Number 6's to my knowledge have NEVER been faster than an Arenson!
